Jewish cemetary question

Do people bring flowers to plant there?

I'm catholic, and when I visit my grandpa, we always bring new plants, clean it up, and make it pretty.

I've visited a friend at a Jewish cemetary, and no one had flowers. There was nothing at any stone.

Is it not allowed?

TIA

Re: Jewish cemetary question

I don't believe its forbidden, but people usually leave a rock or pebble to show they were there

Re: Jewish cemetary question

It is customary NOT to bring flowers. Lisa is right - stones are left to mark that the grave has been visited.

Thanks. That's what I thought.

I do the rock thing when I visit my grandpa too!

Re: Jewish cemetary question

make sure to use small pebbles- large rocks can damage the headstone.

the OP were correct- no flowers.

We often put them on the base towards the bottom so the wind wont blow them off and chip them.
