Jewish Girls who got cribs delivered before baby's arrival...

How long before did you bring the crib into the house??

My crib is in, and I need to schedule a delivery-- but I don't want to do it TOO early.

I am not really superstitious, but I can't help but be A LITTLE, ya know??

All our things are in, but the store we ordered it from knows the custom, so they are holding it for us until DH calls them when I'm in the hospital and have it sent after she's born...can they do that for you?

I am sure they will do that-- but, I kinda want it in before... Someone will need to be here to wait for them to come, then supervise them putting it together. Also, if there is a problem-- I don't want to get screwed and have no crib.

I guess I can just do it a week or two before my due date.

My mom ordered it today
When it comes in, 7-10 days, I will keep it at my parent's house and then DH will go and get it when the time comes

We ordered our crib for DS from BBB and they knew the custom so the delivered it the day before we came home from the hospital. Well, we had ordered delivery and set up but since it was not written on the delivery slip they just delivered it. The next day we came home from the hospital and the delivery men came back and set everything up. BBB was wonderful to work with - they refunded the set up fee without us even asking them to do so.

With all of that said, I wish we had set up the crib, changing table and gilder before I had delivered DS. It was such a pain to come home to nothing set up. We had boxes everywhere. I would get it set up a week or so before the baby is due.

Our crib isn't even scheduled to come in until 3 days after my due date. The store where we ordered it also allows layaways. If I had to have it delivered before the baby was born, I guess I'd schedule it no more than 3-4 weeks before my due date.

I'm probably not the best person to ask as I don't really go by any of the customs, but the furniture is due to be delivered in the next week or two... I will have them come and put together everything when it is in. Especially since I am on bedrest and the babies can come any time, I don't want to wait, I want everything to be ready when we come home - and I want DH at the hospital with me, not at the house putting together baby furniture.

thanks everyone-- I guess I will do it in early January. I also plan to put the baby right into the crib.

I don't want boxes and sh!t around either-- nor will I want to have to clean up after the delivery guys and the set up with the baby here.

I guess it's all about personal preference.
