Jewish Mommies... Passover and Snacks?
What do you do for snacks over Passover? I don't mind letting DD have cheerios and puffs, I don't usually do a "Passover Clean" of my house, but keep on shelf in my pantry for just passover food.
But my father and my in laws do not allow any chumitz into the house during passover and we'll be in both places of the holiday.
Just curious what everyone else does or will be doing this year?

I don't have to worry about it this year since Mason is only gonna be 10 months. Figured what I had when I was a kid. PB and J on matzo matzo ball soup (there's always plenty of leftovers so a good lunch or something) matzo crackers with cheese cheese any fruits
pretty much her usual snacks less the bread I guess

Re: Jewish Mommies... Passover and Snacks?
I do a passover clean and so does my MIL...I spoke to two different rabbis and said that DD does NOT need to abide by the rules..I'm honestly not to keen on giving her all the things with matzah meal bc it's so constipating...so he said to reserve a smal cabinent/drawer with all her things to give her...it's not considered chametz really if it's for the young, inferm etc...
Also, they do sell the kp cheerio type of things..as for real food, I usually make things for her that are kp in general like chicken and sweet potatoes etc for dinner..it's breakfast and lunch that would have been an issue for us, as well as snacks, and the rabbi said that the young are exempt...
ETA: they both did say that it would be nice to keep it for DD and if we can we should...but if there is no way around it than it is not a big deal...I'm going to try it out with her for a few days, but if she gets ultra constipated, which I know I do I will reintroduce her regular foods
ETA for AWFUL grammar and spelling mistakes

Thanks for this! I know I don't have to worry about it this year, but I'll remember this. Oh... BTW, I cannot stay on passover for a week. There's so much other foods you can eat though. Good luck cooking!

I knew they are "exempt" especially since my MIL let DD have chicken with mac and cheese one night, I was since she is kosher!
I'm not worried about at home, usually lunch/dinner and breakfast for the most part are okay. I can give her fruit for breakfast on the days that I don't give her eggs. I REALLY don't want to give her much of the Kosher for Passover type foods because I don't want to deal with a constipated baby.
I'll just have to bring other snacks to my father and in laws since they won't allow the cheerios/puffs into their houses.
Thanks!

Re: Jewish Mommies... Passover and Snacks?
I personally don't feel that small children-- especially with picky appetites should keep kosher for passover. But then again, I am no where near religious.
If you are looking for snack ideas-- what about blueberries, yogurt melts, cheese, etc.?

Re: Jewish Mommies... Passover and Snacks?
We aren't kosher or kosher for Passover. DH tries his best but I really don't especially when I am PG because matzoh products destroy my system even more so because I've had weight loss surgery.
That being said, I am not imposing this upon Abby. She is a picky eater and I am lucky if I can get ANYTHING in her.

Re: Jewish Mommies... Passover and Snacks?
We are Kosher for Passover. DS get Oatmeal with a fruit for breakfast and Oatmeal with a veggie for dinner. Since oatmeal is not KP and I am going ballistic koshering the house I will omit it from his diet for that week. I will just serve him more filling veggies like sweet potato and avocado. If I was Sephardic I would give him rice cereal. Those KP O's are so If I had an older DS I would just try to give them fruit and veggies as snacks since Matzoh products are so binding. Usually I eat a lot of dairy during passover, maybe you could give DC some cheese or yogurt.

Re: Jewish Mommies... Passover and Snacks?
Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
DD already eats alot of cheese. I give her fruit with her breakfast and lunch. She's not much of a fruit eater.
Hopefully my father and IL's will have something I can give her to snack on.
I WILL allow her to snack on what she likes to snack on while at home and at daycare (i.e. cheerios/puffs, etc....) Those are my go to "calm her down" snacks.
I will not be giving her matzoh or any matzoh meal based foods because I am not going to deal with a constipated baby!

I may be a horrible Jew, but I would bring the foods your daughter needs, and if they really won't allow it, take her outside to snack if the weather permits. I wouldn't count on them having something you can give her if she's a picky eater.
