I would say..talk to your dh first..if he supports the idea of you leaving and you can finacially afford it, than leave..

Re: Job related...what do I do?
I've been in that situation before and advice I got was that no one knows but you how it feels to be in your present job. If you are that miserable then I say quit if you can swing it temporarily financially. Even your DH will hopefully see after you talk to him - its not worth waking up everyday and being so miserable - it starts to affect other parts of your life and is unhealthy. You said you have great references from past jobs, so hopefully you'd find something else soon.
Good luck - whatever you decide!

Re: Job related...what do I do?
I would start actively looking in NJ, but don't quit yet. I got laid off due to my company going bankrupt this summer and it stunk. The job market stunk, and my unemploymnet check barely covered my car payments. It was 2 months of pure hell until I finally got a job.

Re: Job related...what do I do?
Welcome to NJ! I live in Dunellen and work in Maplewood (5 min from Springfield). I would say, try to stick it out another month or so.....if you can. I REALLY know what you are going through from a few perspectives. I left an amazing job in NYC mostly bc of the commute from NJ to NYC every day. But then I started working in NJ and got stuck with a crappy job. So I know how you feel. If you can hang in there a little longer, it will look more respectable on your resume and also, you don't want to tell prospective employers that the ONLY reason is the commute (you always want to put a positive career spin on it - more challenging, etc). Only time you can really use the relo exscuse is if you moved really far.
If you have any Qs about the area or HR related, let me know

Thanks for the warm welcome
You make some good points about not using the commute as the main excuse for looking for a new job.
I have lots to think about...
