Job Search Vent....
Why do companies bring you back for Round 2 interviews when they are just going to hire someone INTERNAL anyway?!?!?
It has happened to me TWO times now. That is FOUR interviews I have gone on (called in sick, left early, came in late using various excuses - dr's appointments, etc).
And then this morning, I had an interview at 7:30am. Arrived promptly at 7:20am, got taken in right away, and they STILL had me there at 9:05am questioning me! I finally had to say "um, I sort of have to get back to my office because I didn't notify anyone I would be late"... 
I HATE THE JOB SEARCH PROCESS

that happened to me 3 times with a company
2 times they went with an internal
and the 3rd time they reshuffled and the job was no longer available

I got my job even though there was an internal. They offered it to her first she sat on the fence about it and then decided not to take it. She ended up training me too.
If you are the right candidate for the job you will get the job.
If she took the job then I would have been SOL!
I think it can go either way. Also, I think they have to interview some others to make sure of the fit. We do that here..if we have someone that is interested in the spot, they may not be a 100% fit, so we interview externally.
There are jobs though that we only consider internals. We wouldn't go out and waste people's time with that though.

That was protocal at my last job.
By law we had to interview 3 candidates even though we intended from the start to promote internally.

One I found on the internet... DH won't let me get a pet until I get a new job with better hours. This is what I say to that:
