It's not a lot. They get paid hourly. A friend of mine did this through college. I know people without masks ( like the princesses) make a bit more than characters with masks, but it's like $8-$12 an hour.
I also heard (and I have no clue if this is accurate or not) that they don't work for that whole hour. They do 15-20 minutes and then get a pretty decent break. I'm sure if this is true that it varies depending on WHERE they are (at a character greeting spot, or just walking around, etc.)

Oprah had some people on once who had great jobs - there was one woman whose foot was used to size shoes and another woman who was a chocolate taster for Godiva - my type of jobs!

Current union minimum for a B'way contract is $1653 a week. A lead can and will be offered and negotiate more. Good money but you are only hired for 6 months at a time with maybe the possibility to renew.

Thanks! He has a lead. I didn't know that about renewing every six months. He loves it but his schedule is insane!!

I've always wondered about the people who are in the circus.
There is a show on PBS called Circus....it ran for 6 or 7 episodes and it followed the Big apple circus. It was very interesting to see the behind the scenes of a working circus. the salaries werent discussed in detail but you kind of got the idea about it and benefits.
Very interesting. See if you can catch it on netflix or on-demand

I am a travel agent.
I used to work at Liberty Travel when I first started about 10 years ago. Pay was pure cr@p- you only get a tiny pay check and would make commission. Starting out though- you just got to do airline tickets- no commission there.
Now I am doing corporate travel in the city. I am making pretty decent $$- I have also been here for 9 years though.
you get excelllent travel benefits too :)

That's true. It's like 20 min on and 40 min off or vice versa. From what I hear it's extremely physically demanding, hence the long breaks.
