Jury Duty Question - about pay
Hi Everyone,
I have a question. If you are chosen for jury duty and have to serve for a period of several weeks, is your employer required to pay you? I am a salary employee.
As far as I know, there is no company policy about jury duty for salary employyes - only hourly.
Thanks. Lauren

Re: Jury Duty Question - about pay
I always thought if you were salary it didnt matter what hours you worked - your pay would be the same - so if you were out i think they would have to pay you...

Re: Jury Duty Question - about pay
This is your right according to the Office of the Atty General
I have been summoned for jury duty, must my employer pay me?
An employer of ten or fewer employees may withhold the full wages of an employee absent from work on account of jury service. An employer of ten or more employees must pay to an employee serving on jury duty the first $40.00 of that employee’s daily wage for the first three days of jury service. An employee who gives notice to his employer that he has been summoned for jury service may not be discharged or otherwise penalized by the employer on account of such service.
Beyond this, I believe it is management's decision/company policy to pay employees or use personal time.
Since it's not stated, you should probably talk to your supervisor or HR dept.
