Just booked Niagara falls.... advice on must see's and things to do besides the falls?
We are going mid August, what sites, places to see, restaurants etc. to see while there? So far I know we will go to the wineries and the falls. We are going for 5 days, 4 nights......

There's a casino. Casino Niagara I believe. There isn't too much to do around there unfortunately. It's very very touristy around the Falls -- Ripley's, souvenir shops, etc.
Maybe a day trip to Toronto? It's only about 1 1/2-2 hours from there.

I was going to say the same thing about it being touristy. But, we went to those things years ago when we went and it was a lot of fun. We went to Ripley's and some alien themed haunted house thing and a few other places. We had a good time being silly.

We went last summer, spent 2 nights in Niagara Falls (Canadian side) and 2 nights in Toronto.
There's the touristy street right by the Falls, the casino, a bridge you can walk across to go to the American side where there's a pretty park right on the Falls. You can do the Maid of the Mist & go Behind the Falls, which was really cool to see. There's also a butterfly covervatory nearby.
There's also Niagara on the Lake, not far from Niagara Falls, which is a cute area with shops & you can just relax by the lake. We stopped there on our way up to Toronto.

I would suggest definitely doing the Maid of the Mist, Journey Behind the Falls, the Butterfly Conservatory.
We also did the Whirpool Jet Boat tour. It's a boat ride into the whirpool (down a ways from the falls) and you get soaked. It's pretty amazing.
Plus on the New York side, defintely check out Niagara Falls State Park. Also there is the Cave of the Winds tour from Goat Island which is where you get an up close view of the falls from the NY side.

i would definitely either do Maid of the Mist or the Behind the Falls tour. It's great to get up close to the falls and really get a sense of the power of the water, etc., instead of looking at it from across the way.
There's the Skylon tower, which is kind of touristy and pricey, but it has a revolving restaurant which is kind of a nice treat if you're going for dinner. It gives you a birds eye view of the Falls at night, lit up in different colors.
I agree with PPs that suggested driving the 1 1/2 hours up to Toronto and exploring there.
