Just feeling sad

So I think this is one of my first posts on this board.

My dad died 11 years ago. He had a stroke the day after my 21st birthday and passed away 2 days later. I was very close with him, a total daddy's girl.

He never met my DH, or BIL- or any of our children. It is so sad, because he was such a loving man. When my little cousins would come over, he just wanted to play with them. He loved them so much.

Now today I am planning Dd's birthday party, and my mom is in Florida. There was an issue about her coming up for it (she is) because her boyfriend won't leave Florida until mid April. He even misses his own grandchildren's birthday parties (including 1st b-days) if they fall while he is in Florida. He won't fly up to be there. My mom is not like that.

It just makes me so sad. I think about how different my life would be if my dad was alive. He would have such pleasure from DD and my neice and nephew. My inlaws live in another country, so Jordana hasn't even met her grandfather or seen her grandmotehr since she was 3 weeks old.

But mostly, I just miss my dad. its amazing, 11 years later and I still feel so damn sad.
