Just got a sad email. Pet Smart Grooming
My friend emailed this to me. It's from her Sister I was crying reading poor Baci 
HI all
I thought I would share with you what happened to my golden retriever Baci yesterday, in the hope that you will use this lesson in your selection of dog/cat groomer and please pass along to your friends before another pet is injured or perhaps even worse .
Yesterday I took Baci ,my 5 year old golden retriever to petsmart for his bath,haircut,and day of beauty.
I was never called to be informed that Baci had an accident at the Petsmart,during grooming. Instead when I arrived to pick him up , I was asked if I knew that Baci was afraid of the dryer. Of course I said no, and that he had been groomed many times, and has never had any problems at all. They said he had an accident.
I asked that they bring him out immediately.
They said, they sat Baci up on the table, with his neck in the noose, and walked away to turn on the dryer. They then told me that he freaked and began to buck. They said he did a total back flip, yet still in the noose. He managed to free himself from the noose and fell off the table.
They said he seemed unhappy to be in the cage, because he was crying and whimpering. I remarked it was probably because he was hurt and that they should have called me immediately.
I was quick to point out that there is a vet, inside petsmart!
They never even asked the vet to take a look at him.If this is what they admitted to , I cant even imagine what really happened.
Anyway, today I took Baci to my vet.
Baci has first and second degree burns on his back.(probably from them leaving him on the table with the dryer on him). A 4 inch laceration on his left hind leg. A bruised neck (probably from him hanging from the noose).A bruised spine . A sprained hip and leg.
and bruising in various parts of his hind quarters including his tail. Baci is limping,cant sit ,wont play and has lost his appetite,probably from all the pain he is in. The vet said
he had to have suffered a bad fall, and very hot dryer for a long period of time.
Baci is being treated with pain killers,antibiotics, and anti inflammatory drugs and is resting comfortably now.
According to the grooming manager at petsmart. Leaving the dog/cat on the table attached by a collar and short leash is common practice when using the dryer on the dog/cat and they have never had a problem.
Luckily Baci will recover. A smaller ,older,larger, or less agile dog may not.
I hope you will pass this along to any animal lover you know.

She lives in Virginia but still if this is a common practice it's something to look in to and see if they do this in all of their stores.

OMG, that poor dog! I always worry about this! ALWAYS. I - he recovers and can get past this. I hope the dog isn't scarred for life now...poor poor baby. I would SUE SUE SUE....asap!

I am sure they all do this. I know they use that head harness/noose thingy. That's why I don't like to use those vans that come around, mobile groomers. Since there is only one person working them, I always worry what if that ONE person turns around and no one is there to help....I even hate bringing my dogs for grooming for this very reason.

This is why I am so pertrified to leave my Brody anywhere without me or my husband there. We do most of his grooming or the vet. With us present. I would SUE their Azzes OFF!!! OMG I am getting mad just reading this!

And my family makes fun of me - cause I am sooooo afraid to take Casey anywhere to get groomed.
Thank god Baci will be fine, I feel so bad for him

this is horrible.. I hope that he'll be okay soon I don't like Petsmart and I will never use them again for my two dogs. It took me awhile to find a reputable professional groomer. Now I am happy with whom I use.

poor thing!! we used to go to petsmart but now she gets groomed at the kennel.
