just spoke with my grandma and i have to toot my own horn!
my grandmother requested i knit her a sweater. i found the perfect sweater but i was having issues with the size. i decided to call grandma and have her measure her most favorite sweater.
as we're talking and she's giving me her numbers, she starts to tell me why she needs this sweater: the AC in her church (in the dominican republic) is too strong for her, sometimes (she's 86). she then goes on to tell me how the other "church ladies" just go on and on about all the lovely knit items that she has and how they are shocked that such a "young american" can knit such lovely things  
it just feels so awesome on so many levels:
* my knitting is part of my grandmother's sunday's best attire
* my grandmother is proud to show off my work
* my grandmother USES the things i've made for her
* she trusts me to make her another item to wear to church
* other ladies are commenting about my knitting skills
as far as knitting accolades go, i gotta say, today's conversation has put a feather in my cap
i think i can conquer the world, now

awww that's so sweet, it put a huge smile on my face just being happy for you and you sound like an amazing knitter. I tried once, got frustrated after a few minutes and never tried again lol
