just starting the journey and scared
Just wondering how people are dealing with the emotions of starting this...I just started the process of finding out why I am not getting pregnant. Had my blood tests and a painful HSG. Clear tubes but need to look further into the possibility of a polyp. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...The HSG freaked me out for sure. I was so startled by the pain I could barely whisper when the nurse was talking to me...Thank you in advance

Re: just starting the journey and scared
i'm just starting this too..already had the hsg, and we have "unexplained infertility"..but there are a few things counting against us..been trying to get pg for about 3 1/2 yrs...got pg with my son on the 3rd month of trying-almost 6 yrs ago.
We decided on trying the IUI before IVF though I don't know if we can do the IVF because of the cost so i'm really hoping that the IUI works. I have been through a lot of bloodwork already and I just started the injections for the IUI on Friday night- really freaked out over that but honestly its really not that bad.
Have you spoken to your DR yet to go over your options?

Thanks for sharing your story. We only spoke briefly with our Dr about options. She didn't want to overwhelm us until we knew what we were dealing with. It will be a few weeks until my follow up. Did you get preg. naturally the first time? This will hopefully be my first...Good luck to you.

Re: just starting the journey and scared
Did your hsg diagnose an actual polyp? Its just an abnormal piece of tissue and I have had 2 polups removed with a year. It's a quick outpatient procedure. Having clear tubes is a big weight listed from your shoulders though.
I just deal with it one day and one cycle at a time & so far I like the way my RE is taking care of me. Once all the diagnostic testing is finished, your Dr will develop a plan that's best for you.

Re: just starting the journey and scared
No polyp diagnosis yet. Definitely a relief to have clear tubes. One took a little longer to fill but it didn't seem like that is a big deal. I already had an ultrasound but my guess is the next one they will fill me up first to get a better look. One day at a time for sure. the waiting is the craziest... and I have to stay off the internet. The sites give so much info it's so easy to convince yourself you have everything wrong with you. Did you have both polyps removed at the same time?

Sorry I had too many typos in my post. No, they were removed a year apart. I had one removed then it came back. That's the downside.

Congrats on taking the next step! It's not easy, it is stressful, and it is a lot to deal with in the beginning. For me, this board is saving me, because everyone is so supportive and I learn a lot from reading what everyone is going through, and has been through. I'm sorry to hear your HSG was so painful. I hope your stay here is short Good Luck!!!

Re: just starting the journey and scared
You could be me because I had this same story. My HSG was terrible and I was in a lot of pain. I cried . My RE thought he say a polyp so I was freaking out about that with the thought of having to get surgery. I had a Saline Sono a few days later and no polyp! Ask for a Saline Sono (in office) to confirm if its a poylp. Could be an air bubble which is what mine was. I know this whole process sucks but now that I have a diagnosis (unexplained) I feel better. Good luck and FM if you have any questions.

I am in the same boat. I had 1 removed in September and going on the 27th for number 2. It's not uncommon for the regrowth

Re: just starting the journey and scared
So grateful for all of the responses. My heart and well wishes go out to all of you who have been traveling this road for a while. From the few friends I discuss this with, and who have difficulties in this area, there is nothing more helpful than talking to other women who have "been there and done that". A friend told me about this site and I am grateful she did. Pep talks and well wishes are definitely needed all around even if we can't always relate. So thanks everyone :) I will keep posting updates as they come. Good luck to all

This is extremely emotional! Whoever says its not is lying lol The great part is that you reached out and saw a dr that is there to get you pregnant! It took us over a year and we had our ups and downs but we always reminded each other that in the end the man upstairs has a plan(if you believe in that) and we just put our faith in him. For us it was baby steps. We didn't expect to go to a dr appt and get pregnant the next week. We knew this could be a long road and we had no choice to go with it seeing we wanted a baby terribly. I'm not the most patient person so this was tough. Definitely stay off the Internet. I did that too and it drove me nuts lol FM me if you ever want to vent
