Just when things get better...
they get worse....
My mom is off the wall
After getting a very disturbing call from her psychiatrist a few weeks ago- I decided to no longer have my mom watch DS (except the 1 day my dad is home with her- and since she only watched him 2x's a week anyway- I was able to pull it off- w/o her even realizing I took her alone babysitting away)
I never gave her reason- just made up excuses for that one day- like- I wanted to bring him to work with me- I had off- DH had off, or whatever...
Then she started doing WONDERFULLY- Like "oh my God- I have my mother back..." She has been doing this well for a few weeks now (longest I have seen her do well in awhile)and I started letting DS go there both days again!
Well today I come home from work and my younger brother calls to say- all the doors and even the garage is locked, and my mom isnt answering the phone or door- He said that mom and dad were fighting alot last night- so somthing is def. up-
Well- he finally breaks into the house- to find the dog running loose (which never happens-since there are certain areas of the house he is not allowed in) and my parents door shut- with a chair in front of it...
I then tell my brother- he has to get into her room- and make sure she is ok- breathing, alive or whatever- because you just never know with her...I offered to go there and help- and he said if he needed me he'd call me back..
Well- he just called me back- said she was sleeping- and she has a cut on her wrist (which I know she had a burn there the other day- but I have no clue whats-what) and that my mom is yelling about god knows what in the background...
I contacted her mental health Dr.'s a few times about going to apt.s, but w/o her consent- I cant go- and they cant share info with me...
I have no idea what her diagnoses actually is- and I feel like my hands are tied....
Why is this my life??

Do what you can for your mother but don't ever feel guilty for putting you & your son first. I couldn't agree more

Re: Just when things get better...
Sounds like she needs meds. I'm not joking. Maybe you need to be more involved with her doctors. Her mental illness is not being treated properly.
Please try to reach out to her physicians to get her the help she needs.
Sorry you have to deal with this.

Shes on meds... has been for awhile...
They changed it a few different times-
Im in contact with her Dr.s there is only so much we can discuss...
I beg my mom to let me come and get involved- she just says "Marissa- Im not hiding anything- I just dont wanna get you involved- you have your own family to take care of"
She just dosent understand- I want to help! She isnt taking me away from my family!!!

So sorry you are going through this
I would talk about it with her again. Tell her that you are her biggest advocate and fan, but you would like to get more involved with her treatment- to support adn help her. Tell her that after all the help she has given you over the years, you want to be there for her.

Re: Just when things get better...
this is what I would do. With confidentiality the doctors cant release info but they can listen to anything you tell them. I would tell your mother that you are going to the appt whether she lets you in or not, and if she is so concerned with not wasting your time then she should let you in.
Its not an easy situation

Re: Just when things get better...
She sounds super loving...... maybe tell her that you are worried about DS and you need to know her medical history... Just in case kind of deal. Maybe her caring side will take over and she'll tell you.
Either way I just want to give you some for the rough time you are dealing with.
