I'm not a city girl, but how about the Disney store? Fao Schwarz (is that still around?).

I would go to the museum of natural history too!

i honestly would skip guggen if you're doing it for your 18month old. with teh dinos, wild animals, exotic birds, costumes from diff eras, the nat history would be more fun. there's also another museum designed specifically for kids that's not far from Nat History called Children's Museum of Manhattan. and nearby there are a couple of children friendly eateries after a tiring day of culture absorbing like "Good Enough To Eat" and "Isabella." TIP: if you decide to go to Good Enough, make sure you get there early! ppl start lining up even before their opening hours.

another restaurant i would rec is in teh AOL Time Warner Building called "LANDMARC." very child friendly (children's menu avail) and the food is great. and after you're done, you could exercise it off by doing some shopping within the building.

there's many things to do in the city. whether it's uptown or downtown or in the mid there's always something you can find just by chance. enjoy yoru weekend in the city!

Ellen's Stardust Diner is cute. They sing and dance. The food isn't all that great (diner type food), but the atomosphere is fun.

A ride on the Toys R Us ferris wheel is always fun. The Disney Store and FAO are also fun to browse around in. The Museum of Natural History wouldn't be too old for her. Just skip the planetarium since they get mad if the kids "ooohh and ahhh" out loud in there.
