Kate Gosselin Gave Jon $5 Daily Allowance
For the FIFTH week in a row, Jon & Kate Plus 8 mom Kate Gosselin takes the cover of Us Weekly (See: Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4).
“[Kate] used to give [husband Jon] only $5 to spend, and if he was out and needed more money, she would give him hell,” says his former employer at Style Craft Corp, David Rothermel. “She came in raising hell [one day in the office] because Jon’s father was supposed to bring her lunch and he was late. She got up out of bed rest to come in and yell at anyone who would listen!”
The mag claims the Gosselins later publicly concocted a story that Jon was fired because the company didn’t want to insure the sextuplets.
Almost 10 million people tuned in on Monday to watch the season premiere of J&K+8.

This is just getting ridiculous. Was he given a $5/day "allowance" because they were on a single income with 8 kids at home to feed/diaper/etc?? I don't think that is that crazy to only spend $5/day then when money's tight 
I have no clue, obviously, but it wouldn't surprise me since Jon is so laid-back that he would have no idea how much $ they had back then, how much bills were, etc...so someone had to watch spending.

I agree with all the above posts....I feel bad for her too. I think $25/week is reasonable if you are on a really tight budget with 8 kids at home to buy diapers for. This is just out of hand now, the media circus the tabloids are turning this family into.

$5 a day gets you less than 2 gallons of gas.
Even Subway comes to more than $5 after tax and thats without drink and chips.

I don't feel bad for EITHER of them.
they don't raise those kids on their own. haven't basically since day 1!
they've had a TON of help over the years and they are BOTH EQUALLY to blame for the demise of their marriage, if either of them really care.
my nieces LOVE this show and I am so sad that CHILDREN that have become followers have to watch and bear witness to their ridiculous display.
what happened to them has NOTHING to do with their babies. it has to do with THEM.
they could have gone about all of this a totally different way and THEY DECIDED not to.
who cares how THEY feel??? I don't. those kids are EFFED now.
Kate LOVES the limelight. she will NEVER give it up. not for her kids, not for anyone.
I could not IMAGINE putting my laundry out there for everyone to see. to be encapsulated by television for my CHILDREN to see when they are old enough to understand.
I think they both SUCK.

i so agree. the only ones i feel sorry for is the kids. they are the ones that are going to get hurt. poor things.

I am no fan of Kate's but if the "$5 allowance" was when they were a single income family with twins and sextuplets on the way, it sounds very reasonable to me.
I highly doubt that Kate is hating all this publicity, even though all is negative, it is still making them $$$, everyone feeds on drama.
For the children's sake, TURN OFF THE CAMERAS!!!

I'm tired of the blaming.
It's neither ones fault.
I admire Kate for her honesty. She makes no excuses for who she is. She's a wonderful mother but, a terrible wife. It must be very difficult playing playing both roles. I think therapy would help her a great deal.
Is she the same person Jon married? Probably not but, who would be after this life altering experience?
Is Jon the same person Kate married? Probably not.
Life happens, things change. You can only hope the couple is strong enough to get through it and if the media leaves them alone, I think they will be ok.

Just to throw this out there....
Despite the fact that they had 8 children to cloth, feed, take care of, etc. they got so much assistance... truck-laods of free stuff and tons of donations. Consider too that she only eats/feeds organic food... you know how expensive that is???
$5 a day is do-able (hellooo McD's dollar menu!) but I know my own DH would laugh at me if I gave him a strict day-to-day budget when he's the bread-winner in our house.

Now, I have never watched the show. I didn't even know their last names until he was photographed with the woman in the car.
However, how they have handled this thing since that "scandal" is disgusting. Kate clearly has her OWN best interests at heart. If she cared about her family, she would not be running to People, Us Weekly, etc... to tell her side of the story. She would be home, working on her marriage and retreating from the spotlight for the sake of her kids.
And he had done the same thing. While he isn't on the cover of every news show, he hasn't exactly shut this thing down.
So to me, this is either a publicity stunt for the new season (who had record ratings BTW), or they are two selfish people who are no better than Octomom and need to start focusing on their family instead of their fame.

On a side note, if i spoke to my DH the way Kate spoke to John I don't think our marraige would have lasted either. I would cringe at her tone and attitude . I am sick of both of them to be honest and I am over their show and the drama.

That's the whole thing that keeps on popping up in my mind. That all of this drama is for ratings.
It was months and months ago where it was a little blurb in the paper about how he went to the party with the college girls, and then the sunbathing incident. It was 1 or 2 stories MONTHS ago, and then nothing. Now, conveniently a week before the season starts, she's cheating with the bodyguard, on the cover of every tabloid, and giving interviews to various magazines.
Why didn't she do all of this back then? Sure, maybe you wanted time to work it out privately. I can understand that. But how convenient that you decide the time to let the public in on what's going on is right before your season starts.
Wouldn't you be ashamed that this is happening to you? Would you really be running to the tabloids telling them every last detail of your life? Or would you be like most other celebrities and say 'no comment' and walk away?

Well when money is tight, my husband bags his lunch and makes do. Just like me. At times in our marrigae we would agree on minimal spending money for bothof us.

I don't feel bad for either of them but I feel bad for the kids. I'm sick of seeing and hearing about them. I was on line at the store the other day and 4 or 5 of the rag mags had them on the cover. It's annoying to have to hear about them endlessly.

Buying expensive organic food is her choice for her family. And I'd say that limiting her spending and Jon's spending is what has helped them pay for $$ food (before the reality show $$ came in, obviously). We feed DD mostly organic food, and it IS expensive, but we do without other "unnecessary" things we used to spend $ on...pretty much like how he supposedly got the $5 allowance.
Organic food is important to her and if they can feed that to their family b/c they do without for other non-necessary things, then good for them!
