Katie Holmes and Nicole Kidman Battle Over the Kids
Is there a feud brewing between Katie Holmes and Nicole Kidman?
Holmes, the star of Mad Money, 29, has been moving more and more into the role of mother to stepchildren Isabella, 15, and Connor, 13. "They call me Mom," she tells Parade.
As Us Weekly reports in its new issue on newsstands now, this coincides with 40-year-old Kidman's confession on a British TV show that her two kids with Tom Cruise no longer "call me Mummy."
"It's Mum or sometimes Nicole. I'm like, 'Hey!'" she said. (Kidman's rep tells Us she was only "joking around.")
"Isabella especially took to [Katie] right away," a source close to the family tells Us.
Adding to the tension is the fact that Cruise is raising his children as Scientologists, something the Catholic-raised Kidman is "not cool with," an insider tells Us.

 Who cares...really! She should be thankful that her childrens step-mother loves her kids so much. Is it hurtful to hear...yes, but what more could you ask for then somebody else who loves your kids; seeing as they spend a lot of time with her

but seriously, she probably takes to her cause she sees her more like a friend than a real "mom". regardless, its just nice that they like her.

I rarely see Nicole with the kids, did Tom get full custody?
I would have a serious problem if my daughter called her step-mother mom and me by my name.
I'm just curious to know how it got to that point.

I never understood why Nicole spends so little time with them. I could never ever allow my children to be away from me for so long. She's mentioned that their lives are in LA, so why doesn't she travel there all the time to be with them? Why isn't she at the soccer games? It's like she gave the kids to Tom in the divorce. I'd love to know the story behind this one.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here - but why is it that the MOTHER must be the one to take custody of the kids?
Normally the mother does, but why?
They got a divorce, HE got full custody and the kids live with him - There's nothing wrong with that He's a bit looney yes, but he's obviously a very loving, attentive father.
I doubt people would be questioning why he wasn't flying to Texas (or whereever she's living these days) to attend soccer games and such if she had custody of them -
The double standard just bothers me .....

You and me both!!!! I just met the 23 year old son of my sister in law's, sister in law, that nobody knew existed. She had not seen him in 16 years. I just couldn't understand it and told my husband you would have to remove my arms before I would let go of my children. Just can't even conceive of it.

i agree - but here is seems like Nicole spends NO time with her kids. she lives in Nashville doesnt she?
I think Tom has FULL custody, why wouldnt they have joint?

as a mother, I could never let that happen, so I don't undestand how other mothers could either. If the father does get full custody, why isn't the mother on a plane every month going to visit her kids? I know fathers who fly hundreds of miles twice a month to visit their children. Custody situations are usually so complicated.

My old boss actually left her kids with their father because she had an affair and wanted a divorce(she is marrie dto teh afffair guy now) Her son is 16 and hates her-he actually tried to attack her with a baseball bat! She is kind of a selfish person thougfh and thats what I think fo anyone who woudl abandon their children man OR woman

Youi're right.- Mother OR Father, they should make the effort to see their kids whenever possible ........I just feel like a woman takes more heat than a man in that situation.

For me it's not a double standard. I would be posting why isn't Tom with his kids if he was never around for them - particularly because both of them have the means to physically be there for their children.
If for some bizarre reason I actually gave up custody (which I can't even imagine) I would be involved in my child's life unless I felt it was detrimental. And if it was detrimental, I would straighten my arse out & be there.
I know one mom who gave up custody of her son. She claimed it was easier because she was moving to CT & her son didn't have to change schools & had her ex-MIL available for daycare, etc. It didn't ring true because she had no reason to move to CT when she worked in Manhattan. It also didn't ring true because I could not fathom moving out of state - away from my child. The only thing that did ring true is she drank like a fish & blacked out often. THAT made perfect sense why she didn't have custody.

Tom comes across as a person who will do what is necessary to get what he wants, and he has the money too. It would not surprise me if Nicole did not have a lot to say in the matter. Maybe him getting custody was part of a pre-nup or similar.
I'd be really bothered if my kid called another woman "mom"- but it would not surprise me if Tom encouraged that as well.
