Re: Keep changing my mind.....

I know how you feel. Some days I am like I am going to push this baby out drug free no matter what! Then I stub my toe or something, and realize how much that hurts, and think omg how bad is this going to be? Chat Icon

Re: Keep changing my mind.....

Why don't you go into it hoping to do drug free, but knowing the drugs are there if you need them.

I wanted drug free, and wound up with the drugs. Best decision I could have made for ME. Everyone is different, so sometimes you just need to go with the flow.

ITA!!

You really need to go in with an open mind. Labor and delivery is SO unprectible. Better to go in with no plan, then a plan that doesn't go the way you want and then end up being disappointed.

Re: Keep changing my mind.....

I agree with everyone else. Nobody says you have to decide right now.
Go in, see how you do, and then decide if you need the drugs or not.
I don't think there is any way to tell how you will react to labor etc until you are in the thick of it.
If you try to make a 100% decision now you might end up feeling disappointed or like a failure if you don't stick to that plan.

I say- see how it goes! Chat Icon

It doesn't really matter what you decide.

If you can bear it, you can bear it.

If not... there are meds for that.

I'm going to get an epidural straight away. I've seen too many people in labor to think I'd be able to do without happily (maybe if you tie me down, I'd survive...).

Re: Keep changing my mind.....

There's no reason to make the decision now, so don't stress over it. Once you're there, you'll know if you can do it med-free or not.Chat Icon

I know....although I am 100% ready to ask for them, I think it would be awesome to go without them! Keep an open mind I guess and go into it saying that IF you need them, you'll take them!

Re: Keep changing my mind.....

You can't really decide this until you are in the hospital laboring. I think the best plan as others have mentioned, is to go in wanting to have a drug free birth but be open to an EPI if needed. Labor and delivery is not something we can really plan for.
