Keeping track of bills and money
How do you girls keep track of your bills? I tried an excel spreadsheet but that didn't work. I'm just trying to get an idea so I can be more organized.

Re: Keeping track of bills and money
I keep a list every month in a small notebook.
I check everything off as they are paid.
Helps me keep track for the next month and for some bills that are only due quarterly or yearly.
For certain bills, I will also write down the amount paid. It's good for keeping track of how prices may go up and down.
I also do one of those yellow stickies from the computer each week of what bills are due that week.

Re: Keeping track of bills and money
I pay everything online. Most bills are automatically debited. Then I import to a spreadsheet for totals for end of year.
I do the same with the credit cards. I used to use Quicken and I really want to go back to using it.

Re: Keeping track of bills and money
I go old school and write everything down in a calendar. The day to day activities are in blue but bills are in red. I also put down the days we get paid in another color. I'm obviously a very visual person and like to have everything laid out in front of me.
I also use mint.com which sends me text messages as reminders. The only problem with this is you need to be semi consistent on mint in order for the texts to be consistent.

I use a Word Chart. I list all the people/companies to be paid and write down the amount due and date. then I have a column that I write in when I have paid the bill - the amount and date.

I absolutely Mint. I have it on my IPad and iPhone and check it every day. I can see everything in 1 place- credit cards, checking / savings acct, car loans, 401K, my mortgage balance, etc. And it gives me a budget for all my expenses so I don't overspend when I am out and about. I love it!

I use Quicken. I used it for years now and I don't know I'd live without it. It costs $50 and the software stays current for 6-7 years (software will eventually become obsolete and you'll need to get the newest version if you do automatic downloads. However, if you don't do these downloads, it can last forever).
