Awwwwwwww..this update made me cry!!! I read your updates and it brings back so many memories of when my brother was going through rehab! My brother is TBI survivor due to a horrible car accident and was in a coma for 3 months. I remember the day he walked (with the brace you mentioned) and we all cried...so I know how your mom felt The day you hear him speak will the BEST day EVER!!!!!!! After my brother was able to speak he told us that throughout the entire time he woke from the coma he sooooo badly wanted to talk to us and tell us he was fine, but wasnt able to and didnt understand why he wasnt able to speak. He said that he KNEW exactly what was going on around him and by us always reminding him that he was going to be just fine and including him on is status made him more confident and put him at ease..Kenneth mouthing words is phenominal!!!!! I cant wait to read the update when you post Kenneth spoke!! My brothers voice sounded different from the trach and for a while his speech was kind of slurred but that went away after months of therapy and time...
Sorry to kind of hijack but when we were going through the same situation....the survival stories we would hear from TBI victims is what kept us going!! Many hugs to you and your family!!! God Bless!!!

noooo omg don't be sorry!! this helps so much!!!! i can't wait to tell my mom this tomorrow b/c we have met a lot of TBI survivors who made remarkable recoveries but few who had a lot of difficulty speaking -- their problems were in other areas b/c, as you know, the brain is so complex that every person's injury can be so different from another person.
thank you so much!!!!! this is great!!!!!
and, now, if his speech IS slurred a little at least i won't panic -- i'll just remember what you said that for your brother it was like that in the beginning but DID get better.
