on vacay once to the Kern River in cali
we camped on a beachy type area and there was one other couple there and when we looked over at them they had their 3 year old leased to a stake in the ground while they went about their swimming etc!Chat Icon

THAT is horrible! Chat Icon I don't think any of us who are for it would do that.

Definately crazy- but I have been to the Kern and lets just say there are lots around there without all of their marblesChat Icon

The analogies to treatment of animals is really unfair, especially from people who do not have children. Chat Icon

I don't even get what's wrong with it. I admit thats the image that came to mind when I first saw it. but you don't keep your dog on a leash because you want to treat it poorly or because it's an animal but because you love it and you don't want it to run away. I mean, I feed my dog, I also feed my kids... I don't think there's anything wrong wth child leashes used correctly.

I mean the people who are tying up kids at the beach, you shouldn;t even do that to an animal, so they have a screw loose to begin with

I don't have a problem with it, you need to protect your kid.

Though, my GMIL told me she used to put her son in a harness and then leash it to the clothes line in the front yard. I thought that was a bit much.

Re: Kid on a leash?!

I always thought that I would try my best to teach my kid correctly about holding my hand and staying with me and use the leash as a back-up. So, we would hold hands and use the leash. My child being kidnapped is my second biggest fear- after fire.....Chat Icon

DH doesn't like them though but I am not against them at all when used appropriately.
