Kids Amazon Fire Tablet?
Any input on this tablet? Thinking of getting one for DD who will be 2 in May. Looking for it mainly to use when traveling -- in the car, riding the train into the city, plane trips, etc. She uses an iPad Air tablet at home which is mine (and provided by my job) but given I don't technically "own" it, I'd prefer she use something else when outside of the home in case something happened to it.
I'm mainly interested in seeing if there is enough to do on the tablet without it being hooked up to WIFI for the above mentioned travel situations. It seems there are a bunch of pre-loaded apps but I'm not sure if most require WIFI for video streaming. Thanks!

Kids Amazon Fire Tablet?
We have the regular kindle fire for my kids and we love them. My SIL got her daughter the Kids fire tablet and tons of issues with it so she returned it. My kids use them in the car without being hooked up to wifi. There are plenty of apps for them to use. They can't watch videos or anything but they can play tons of games without being hooked up to wifi.

Re: Kids Amazon Fire Tablet?
We got ours on sale during Black Friday... It was totally worth it for us. A bunch of apps work without wifi while we're out... As previous poster mentioned, you can't play videos or download any other apps while not on wifi. All of these apps are free for one year. Don't know what I'm going to do next year though.
ETA: My dd is only 3 and we wanted something that was durable. There is a 1 or 2 year warrantee with the kindle fire for kids... No matter what happens to it, they'll replace it. Win win.

We have the regular fire tablet for dd. The movies we paid to own (shred, Kung funpanda , etc) we downloaded to kindle itself, so she can watch them when there is no wifi. Plus if you have prime you can download a bunch of movies or tv shows. You can make a profile for dd and it has same interface as the kids kindle. We love it.

We got the kids one during black Friday also and DD loves it. I got it specifically to take with us when we traveled to San Diego and I was so happy I got the kids version with all the pre-loaded apps.

Can you not download TV shows and movies that you purchase or have through your Prime account to the kids version fire?

Re: Kids Amazon Fire Tablet?
I love the Kindle Fire Tablet for kids.
In reality it is just a regular fire tablet with a big foamy case and a 1 year subscription to kindle freetime for kids. But the kids profile blocks the other content unless you add it specifically. A lot of the games can be used without WIFI.
How the kid's kindle works is there's a parent profile and a kid's profile. You control the downloaded content on the kindle. IE if you purchased a movie you can access it through your profile and add it to theirs. I do that with my DD all the time for car trips or anywhere we know is going to be a long wait. That way they still have access to the movies but they can't access anything else on the kindle that's not on the kiddie profile. Does that make sense?? I have a hard time explaining things thoroughly.
The only real problem I've had was the memory but that is easily rectified if you get a micro-usb to expand the memory.

Kids Amazon Fire Tablet?
My dd has had one since she was 2 (she's 4 now) and she loves it and uses it almost every day. There is so much to do with it, so many different types of games to download. And it looks to me like they keep coming out with more new games because there's definitely a lot more choices than I remember seeing when she first got it. It won't work quite as well as an iPad (a little slow and glitchy sometimes) but for something to keep a young child entertained, it's definitely worth it. And a lot of the games are educational!

Re: Kids Amazon Fire Tablet?
My DS has had one for 2 yrs now (he's almost 4) and it's been great! He loves his and we pay the $2.99/mo for Kindle Free Time so he has access to hundreds of kid appropriate games, books, and videos with no ads. It's also SUPER durable with the bumper on it, my DS has literally thrown his across the room and it was fine. Also, if your LO does break it, they replace it with no questions asked. I think it's the perfect tablet for a toddler.
