Honestly, I am glad it was a hoax. I know that Long Island is not the most accepting place to live, but it's better than many other areas of the country (even NY, just live upstate for a little). It just made me very sad to hear that someone right in my backyard was behaving with such ignorance and fear.

It crossed my mind it was fake. What I find disgusting is that it wasn't just a fake story they picked up, they MADE it up themselves. I think it was a gross abuse of their platform and cannot imagine what kind of "healthy discourse" they expected to come of that.

Honestly, I think it was totally obvious that it was fake (as I posted on the other thread) and, I would think most people from around here would know that. I mean - who RSVP's ON The invitation and then what, mails it back or sends it through the teacher to go home??? Maybe would have been slightly believable if it was an email or text RSVP.
I personally think that creating this fictitious situation was offensive and ridiculous. And, debate about what? A FAKE RSVP that never even happened and, honestly, in this way, in this time, in this area, probably never would. And, what kind of "discourse" were they looking for? Even the people that actually feel this way probably would agree that writing this kind of RSVP to a kid's party is not acceptable. Just meant to enrage people IMO.
Lets be real, they weren't trying to stir any kind of "healthy discourse" - they were just trying to bring some news attention to themselves and their show. PATHETIC.

Of course it was meant to bring attention to themselves. The fact that it was the DJ's themselves who created it is what surprises and upsets me the most. I'm disgusted that they would create such a story which makes WHERE THEY LIVE sound so bigoted and truthfully give LI a bad name.

What really sucks though is that while getting people's opinions last night for the News 12 story, a few people agreed with not exposing children to that "lifestyle". My DS is mixed race and I fear for what he'll encounter in his life

Totally knew it was fake. The invite seemed fake, the response written like that, even the kid names "Tommy" all seemed totally fake!
