kindergarten screening

DS went for his kindergarten screening. When the teacher walked him out to me at the end, she said that he needed to work on 2 areas at home and went over them with me. Then she said that if he needs to be in the class with extra help that I would get a letter in the mail from her in September. I thought that the school calls in June if there is a problem? When I asked her this, she said maybe a phone call in June, but definitely a letter in September and that they go over the results of the screening at the parent teacher conference in November. I felt like she was hinting to me that he may need to be in the class with extra help. I am fine if this is the case, but am surprised that they would wait until September to notify me. She also asked me if he was a September birthday. When I said yes she just nodded her head and repeated that I would get a letter from her in September if there were any problems. Does anyone know the process? Also, does anyone know if when they score the test, do they take into consideration the fact that he is a later birthday?

I had the same response when my son went for his screening- he has a September birthday as well. My son was behind in three areas,and didnt make much improvement over the summer. He was put in a regular class, but by the end of September I got a letter requesting he be able to go to resource room, maybe that is what she meant?
