Kindle or Nook?
I am looking to get an e-reader. I am not against a tablet type but it's not my driving force either. I tried to do my research but I would like some honest input as well. If you use either, please share your pros and cons. Thanks!

Kindle. So easy to use so many books. You can get the apps on your phone or tablet and read there too.

Kindle or Nook?
Ive had both. I prefer the kindle. A few authors I liked where publishing with Amazon and were only available on the kindle. I my nooks two side buttons also stopped working quickly. I never liked the nook store. If I preordered a book or new a book was coming out it took awhile to show up. (not sure if that got better).

They are both the same imo. I've used both. Never had a problem finding any book I wanted on either. Both had free books and super discounted ones for .99. I went with what most of my friends had so I could share and borrow with them.

Kindle or Nook?
I have a Kindle and also sometimes use my iPad, but I prefer the Kindle because it is much easier to read, especially outside - there is no reflection on the Kindle, but it can be really bad on the iPad. Not sure if the Nook has the same issue, but something I would check into before purchasing

Did you turn the brightness all the way up?

I love my Kindle! DH has an iPad and I have a Kindle Fire, and we both agree that when the iPad dies, he won't waste the money on a new one; he'll get a Kindle Fire like mine for like 1/4 the price. It's that good.

The nook also has one where you don't get the glare. If you want something just to read books and don't care about tablet features then make sure you get one of the "paperwhite" versions (I don't know what amazon calls theirs, but it's the one without the glare) and not the more ipad-like ones.
FWIW, I have a nook. Though I stopped using it for the most part after getting the iPad mini, because there are only so many gadgets I can carry around.

Re: Kindle or Nook?
As for glare, there is absolutely ZERO glare with the Kindle Voyage. I could be sitting in BLAZING sun and I don't have any problem reading. It also auto adjusts the brightness for you depending on the lighting you're in.

Re: Kindle or Nook?
I find Kindle books to be much cheaper than B&N, especially newer, popular titles. I had a Nook, which I loved, but that was before I got my iPad, which I love even more. I use both the Nook and Kindle apps, but kindle much more. If I were to get an e-reader, I'd go for a kindle paperwhite.

Re: Kindle or Nook?
If you aren't using any of the tablet features, go for the kindle (either the paperwhite, voyage or original version). It's super easy on the eyes and no glare whatsoever.
I have the Kindle Fire HD and DH has the ipad which we use for tablet features. However, I HATE reading on them - the eyestrain and glare gets to me. The kindle e-reader if you are getting it just to read.

Yes, but especially sitting outside on a sunny day, it's much harder to read the iPad than the Kindle

Kindle or Nook?
I love my Nook. I have the basic reader with no tablet features. I actually download all my books and upload them to my Nook with Adobe Digital so I can't say much about the Nook Store.

The Nook paperwhite with the glow light is perfect for reading...nothing fancy but I love it.

Depending on which NOOK you use, you can download the Amazon app. I am able to read both Amazon and B&N books. I received it as a birthday gift.
I do have to say tho, I buy books through Amazon now because at the time a lot of B&N books were not lendable.

Kindle or Nook?
Thanks for all the replies. It seems like Kindle is the way to go. As much as I love the tablet features, I want reading to feel like I am actually looking at a book. I am leaning toward the Kindle Paperwhite. I am not sure if I will regret not getting the tablet version. Thanks for all help!

I love my Ipad but when I was reading I wanted to just focus on reading. I love having a dedicated e-reader, I find that aside from the awesome clarity and readability it's also nice to NOT have the distractions of a tablet.

You wont regret it. I love my paperwhite. I have an ipad and a kindle fire and do not like reading on those so I got the paperwhite and its the best imo. No glare, you can have a backlight for reading in bed or wherever. enjoy!
