Kitchen renovation disappointment
Has anyone done a kitchen renovation and been totally disappointed with it?

Design, overall look and place we used. We had to change things last minute due to problem with the design we were given so not what we planned.

Kitchen renovation disappointment
I was originally kind of eh on our bathroom reno but now I love it. You will likely love yours, too. I think sometimes we hype things up so much we’re doomed for disappointment. Let’s seen some pics, I’m sure it’s beautiful!

We did our kitchen last year and I was a little disappointed with some of the things we chose. It's hard to see the full picture when you're picking everything all at once, until it's all up.
What got me through is that it looks one million times better than it did.
Sorry you're disappointed. Like a PP said, it may grow on you and I'm sure it's beautiful even though it may not be exactly what you wanted.

If it makes you feel better my DH is a contractor and does AMAZING kitchens... only problem is he has no time for mine so gets all these great ideas doing other people's kitchens, shares them with me and get the... one day we'll do it.
Ugh! The shoekeeper's wife. LOL
I don't mind my kitchen now. It's big, but NOT my style at all. I can't wait to eventually get it done. I threaten him I am going to hire a contractor while he's at work

Kitchen renovation disappointment
I did not have a problem with my kitchen reno many years ago, and I am about due for a new one. I hesitate on doing a number of remodeling jobs because it seems I get disappointed after. (Especially if I gave a decent tip, I find something after I really didn't like LOL.)
Sometimes I wonder if it is me, but I don't think so. And from reading on boards, a lot of people have problems. Then you always ponder when something goes wrong, do I say something, am I being picky? Because we know everything can't be perfect.
It's so stressful and discouraging that I avoid it.
I envy the people who get excited about remodeling!
I hope you grow to like your new kitchen. You probably will.

Post a photo. What went wrong? Was it layout? Was it the finishes chosen? Was it appliances? Was it your counter? Backsplash?
Let's work with what you do like that makes you happy, and focus on that.

It's not done yet. There was a design problem and my island had to be moved. It was a last minute thing after so much time of planning and I feel really closed in compared to the way it was.

Then, tell them to stop. If it is not working, talk to your designer asap. They may have a different solution.

Yes I agree - if it's not done yet have them stop and try to change it. Once it's done you won't be able to but try to get it as close to right as you can now!
