Ladies on the pill...how long did you give yourself before you tried after going off them?

I know I'm a waaaayyys off here but I'm worried because my SIL has been off the pill for over a year and a half and is still not PG...

How long were you on the pills and how long were you off before you started TTC'ing seriously?

We're supposed to get married on 11/1 and then we're set to try right after the honeymoon (heck, on it would be fine). I'm curious to find out what everyone thinks in terms of timing, etc.?

I went off the pill in April and was pregnant in June. The first month I et whatever happen, then actively tried for 2 months.

I'd go off a month or so before so AF regulates.

I went off the pill in August of 2006 after only being on it for 15 months. My cycle never regulated. I'm now 30 weeks pregnant. It took us just about 2 years to get pregnant, but we had other issues which did not allow us to conceive naturally.

i ovulated the month after i came off the pill. it took us 7 months to get pregnant.

a VERY close friend of mine - it took her 9 months to ovulate - she was on the pill for 10 years. BUT - the month after she started ovulating, she got pregnant.

ETA: i was on the pill for 12 years - due to ovarian cysts.

I took the pill for more than 10 years before my first. Did my last pack in April and started trying August and got PG first try. My doc had said wait 3 cycles.

i was on the pill for a year. started trying to conceived after 2 af cycles. so far month 2 of ttc.

I went off the pill the first cycle that I was ready to TTC. My cycle regulated right away. Unfortunately, it's been over a year and still not PG - we are dealing with IF.

I went off them last December and I am still not pregnant, I'm seeing an RE and they think the problem is with my thyroid.

I was on the pill for over 10 years...stopped right after my wedding in April of 2006, got AF in May and June and was pregnant in July

Your SIL may have other issues to contend with. Many of us started taking the pill to regulate AF... but it only masks the problem. Once we come off, we revert to our pre-BC irregular cycles, and it's hard to predict when (or if) we O.

Some docs will say to wait two or three months, while others will give the green light as soon as you're done with the pack.

i was on BCP for alittle less than 2 yrs. I went off Jan 08. Got pg Aug 08, but ended in m/c. Starting again this mont. So...next month is one yr off BCP. I started "getting serious" in May

I was on the pill 8 years, and got PG my 3rd month off of it. Cycles 1 and 2 were somewhat unpredictable, so cycle 3 was really the first when I knew exactly when I ovulated.

I was on the pill for about 10 years. I stopped taking them the end of October, 2006. Got my BFP January 1, 2007. We were very blessed that it happened so quickly.

I was on the pill for 5 years. Last month was one year since I came off and became regular right away. This is our third month ttc.

I've started both times immediately. First time it took 2 cycles (about 3.5-4 mos) to get pregnant; I'm just on CD6 of #2 now.

My doctor told me to wait a full month after going off the pill. I didn't listen and got pg that month and then m/c'd.

With DS, we started trying right away after I stopped the pill and we got pregnant on month #3. This time around, we also started trying right away.

I was on the pill for 10 years. I went off in June and got my BFP in November! HTH

I went off the pill the end f sept (we got married 9/16) had 1 period and got PG the next month, but "just seeing what happens"

i stopped taking BC (nuvaring) in september and was pregnant by the end of december.

i stopped taking it 7/07, started ttc 10/07 and got my BFP 11/08.

My OB at the time suggested waiting 3 months to TTC because he said that rate of m/c is very high if you get PG the first month or so after coming off the pill. I don't know what the statistics are, but i just went along with it.

I went off in september, got AF, and got pregnant right after. Its different for everyone.

I had been on the pill on and off for almost 20 years. I stopped in April but didn't start trying until October. We got pregnant the first month and that unfortunately ended in a miscarriage. We are back to trying again this month.

I went off the pill and started TTC right away. I was very lucky to get pregnant that month.
