Ladies that use Playtex bottles/nipples
I had to move up to medium flow nipples for DS since the dr. told me to put cereal in his bottle for the reflux. I bought 2 packages of medium flow for a total of 4 nipples. Why does each nipple have a different flow?? One is SUPER fast and DS chokes (we don't use that one anymore), one is so slow that DS can't get anything out of it, and the other 2 are just ok (sometimes they get clogged sometimes they don't). It's driving me crazy b/c DS can't get the cereal out of the slow flow, but I know the fast flow will be too fast. I'm gonna have to make the whole a little bigger in the one that he can't get the cereal out of just so I have a nipple that works!! Anyone else have this problem?

First...I didnt even know they made a medium...I went right to fast!! Hmmm...
My fast sound like your medium...some are really fast and it comes shooting out, while some are so slow, I might as well had kept the slow flow. I don't know why this is...
Have you tried the cereal in the fast? Maybe with the cereal it will be slower?

There are 2 kinds of nipples for the Playtex. The brown nipples and the clear. I believe only the clear come in medium size, which is what we use.
However i found that using the brown slow nipples with the cereal in the bottle worked better. 
Otherwise with the clear ones that are too slow... use a needle and make the whole larger. See if that works!

I agree. Use the variable flow nipple. DS couldn't handle the rice cereal in the medium or fast flowing nipples and would gag. Once we switched to the variable, it took a week for him to figure out how to use it and he's been happy ever since!

When we added cereal to the bottle we cut the slow nipple with a tiny nail scissor (like an small X) My Dr recommended that and it worked fine for us.
