Ladies who moved from Clomid to injectables
I am 12dpiui and got a BFN. I know I'm not officially out yet (beta is Tuesday), but I just have this gut feeling this is not our month. I have done 4 Clomid cycles (only one done properly through RE) and 3 IUIs (again, only one done properly through RE). I respond to 150mg of Clomid, producing 2 dominant follies generally. I'm not sure if I should give the Clomid another go round, or if I should move to injectables. The RE is fine with whatever I want to do. What were your experiences?
Oh, I guess I should add that I have PCOS, if that is worth anything in this equation. I'm just so confused and really need some BTDT experiences.

I've never used Clomid or have PCOS but if I were you I would be moving into injectables by now.
Good Luck!!!

Re: Ladies who moved from Clomid to injectables
IMO: A Clomid "good" response was 2-3 follicles according to my RE. I responded twice at high doses.
I'm not sure of you were monitored for follies with your OB/GYN & what the differences would be between one of those cycles & one with an RE. This would make the decision for me...
It's a decent jump to injections and it increases your chance of multiples (plus it's a lot more pricey).
Injection cycles "success" goal in follies is about 3-5 follies according to my RE.... and you have to seriously consider multiples & what you would do (ie reduction).
I'd do it as a "bridging step" to IVF.
I had to go all the way to IVF.
I think a good thing to do is to go at your own pace.

Re: Ladies who moved from Clomid to injectables
well i didnt respond to clomid AT ALL, which is why we moved on to IVF after the three months of clomid. I say do what you feel is best for you. Do you think that being on injectibles will increase your chances? If yes, then yea I would go for it...

Re: Ladies who moved from Clomid to injectables
I moved to injectibles rather fast-its really not a huge deal. I know everyone is diff but I didnt really find a big change in my mood etc. the shot is no biggie either, very small needle...

Re: Ladies who moved from Clomid to injectables
i did one failed clomid cycle and went straight to injectables. i also have PCOS but didnt respond to 50mg clomid.
in my opinion i would go straight to injectables. #1 clomid has nasty side effects, like thinning of the uterine lining, and you dont want to keep using it cycle after cycle. i have heard varying opinions that you shouldnt do more than a certain amount of clomid cycles in a lifetime (i have heard anywhere from 6 to 12). #2 i found that because injectable meds are purer, there are fewer side effects (other than bloating). the chances of multiples is def increased with injectables, and because you respond to clomid i would think your RE would start you on a fairly low dose. it could also take a bit of time to find the right dose that works for you. furthermore injectables require slightly more monitoring than clomid, since its a lot easier to hyperstim.
good luck, you never know, maybe you wont need them

Re: Ladies who moved from Clomid to injectables
I would absolutely move on to injectables!
I have PCOS and I never really responded well to Clomid, so my RE moved me over to Gonal-F injections. They started me off low and slow in fear or possibly overstimming, and gradually increased my dosage based on how my body was reacting. I ended up injecting daily for 20 days, then triggered for my IUI. That was the month I got my BFP!
Good Luck!!!

Re: Ladies who moved from Clomid to injectables
I also have PCOS. I never had any follicles large enough while on clomid (I did 8 rounds). When I went to my RE he thought I'd respond well to injectibles... so well that he didn't want me to have IUI for risk of multiples. We started injectibles and IVF at that point and I responded well to the new meds. Good luck!

Re: Ladies who moved from Clomid to injectables
I'd move on to infjectibles. I don't have PCOS, but we did 4 rouds of clomid and then moved on to injectibles - the first round of injectibles worked!

Re: Ladies who moved from Clomid to injectables
Thanks for the feedback everyone. Beta is tomorrow. Let's hope it's a BFP and I don't need to move to injectables.

Re: Ladies who moved from Clomid to injectables
If you are responding with 2 follicles from Clomid and don't have any male issues, I would stick with it. I responded to 150mg but only with 1 follicle and had some moderate male factors. We moved to injectibles for those reasons. The first cycle I ended up with 5 dominant follicles and the second cycle had to be cancelled because I was producing way too many follicles. I also have PCO. GL!

Re: Ladies who moved from Clomid to injectables
I did several rounds iof clomid/IUI I was told once I had PCOS like ovaries.. which meant I can overstim easily so I was just closely monitored.
We decided to move forward with a new DR and really thought long and hard about IVF since I had no real diagnosed problem nor did DH we decided two give injectibles a go for no more than two cycles.
I did one cycle which really was a learning experience for all. The 2nd round I added accupuncture and felt it went great!

Re: Ladies who moved from Clomid to injectables
I have PCOS and did 3 rounds of Clomid and then did another 3 rounds with Clomid with metformin. I go zero results with both.
As soon as I moved onto injectables I got a much better reaction. My twin girls turned 2 in May.
