Ladies who were on BC prior to TTC?

First off, congratulations to all of you ladies!!!!

Ive been on the pill for about 12 years and I was wondering if you could please answer some questions for me, if you dont mind

1) How long did it take for you to regulate after getting off of the pill?

2) How long did it take for you to get pregnant?


I was thinking of stopping the pill 5 months from now, but after hearing that it might take months for me to regulate, I am thinking of getting off in 3 months... I am unsure of how long it will take for me to regulate

I was on the pill for almost 5 years before TTC. I was very fortunate- my period was basically regulated immediately after I went off it. The first 3 or 4 months, my period came exactly every 28 days, then the next 2, it was 2 or 3 days late, and the following month I got pregnant! It only took 6 months after going off the pill. I have heard stories of people going off the pill and having really difficult periods, etc., but I can't speak to that from personal experience- I had no issues! Best of luck!!

I was on the pill for about 8-9 years. I came off Sept 2006. My periods finally got regulated in December 07 and I got my bfp April 2009

I was on the pill on and off for about 6 years. My most recent doctor switched me to Ortho Tri Low and said that he'd prefer me to be on less hormones.

I went off the pill to help me to loose weight, DH and I were trying not to get prego actually. The first month off, I conceived. My periods where always regular, on the clock regular in fact.

it really can go any way.

my scenario: i was on it for 12 years due to cysts. the month AFTER i stopped - i ovulated. (didn't test the first month). it took us 6 months to get pregnant.

a close friend was on it for 10 years and it took her 9 months to ovulate. that 9th month though - she became pregnant....

there is truly no way to know how your body will react...it's a crap shoot!

We got our BFP 4th cycle after being off BC but my cycles were regular from the moment I stopped taking them. I think it was more a timing issue than the BC that it took that long.

I was on BC for about 5 years before TTC. We started trying the month I stopped the pill and got pg on the 3rd month.

Before I had DS I was on BC for about 10+ yrs stopped when I got married, got AF on time and much to our surprise a month later we were pregnant.

I was on it for just under 10 years. I went off in Feb 2008, i had 3 regular cycles right off them which i was surprised. My dr. told me to wait 3 cycles before TTC.

the next few cycles went long and were kind of irregular for some reason. I got pregnant the following january, so thats almost a year from being off the pill, but about 9 months of actually TTC.

i was on ill for 5 years.... went off of it in mid dec and was preg by the end of jan

9 months to regulate, 9 months to conceive. I was on the patch/pill for 5 years.

On the pill for 6ish years - pregnant with twins 11 days after I came off!

2 cycles to get BFP. My first cycle off was really looooooooong. I wouldn't wait if I were you.

I was on the pill for 5-6 years. I went off a year before we TTC. I wanted everything out of my system well before TTC, I was fortunate and was regular right away - but fortunately, I have always been regular.

I wnet off BC b/c I was having health related issues. We waited a few months using other methods. Once off the pill my cycles were pretty strange my period would come every 18-24 days. Not fun at all. I was super worried I would have a hard time TTC but got PG the first month. Good luck

I was on the pill for over 10 years. I came off in April of 2006, when i got married...got AF in May and June and was pregnant by July

i was on the pill for around 9 yrs. we went off in novemebr thinking we were going to start trying in june. my period was somewhere between 28 and 35 days as soon as i went off each month. low and behold one night in april, 1 time without using anything and here i am almost 6 months pg. happy as can be i might add. im glad it happened and we didnt have to get depressed each month.

I was on the pill for 11 years-I switched to NuvaRing the last two before I stopped. AF regulated within 3 months. We conceived about 10 months later (We didn't try for the first month)

I had a talk with DH and we have agreed to get off the BCP in 3 months b/c of how long it might take me to regulate. I was irregular before even getting on BC so thats why Im worried it might take a long time...

I was never irregular. The month after I went off the pill, I pretty much regulated. So I guess I was one of the lucky ones. Unfortunately it still took up 11 months to conceive. I don't think that was due to the BC though. We had some test run and DH count was a little low.

I was on the pill for 10 years straight. I thought it would take time to get back to normal so I stopped the pill 3 months before we were TTC. I got my first period day 29 and was pregnant the next month!!

I think everyone is different but be prepared!

I was on the pill for 8 or 9 years. I was very lucky and got pregnant the first month off the pill.

I'd been on the pill for over 11yrs, my cycle was regular pretty much as soon as I stopped taking them, maybe off by a day or so, but nothing more than that. We got pregnant after 3 months of being off of the pill.

I think the 3 month mark is just an average. Good LUCK!!!

I was on BCP for 10 years. I got a regular AF the month after I went off of it, then got pregnant the following cycle.

I lucked out and my cycles regulated immediately after coming off BCP. I came off in Feb and kept track of my cycles. In April DH and I decided to try and we got pg that month.

With this pg I actually got pregnant while still on BCP.

My sister has been off BCP for almost 6 months and her cycles are still wacky.

So it's different for everyone.
