Ladies with GD, who work during the day ...
Since it's no tuna, no deli meats just being pregnant plus all the GD limitations, what do you eat for lunch? Also when you're in public, where do you check your glucose- I feel bad monopolizing a single public restroom while I struggle with the stupid finger stick- it takes me at least 3 tries before I finally get a drop that I can test with Whatever!

I eat tuna and cold cuts in moderation. Sometimes I'll have a salad with grilled chicken. I am a teacher so I test in my classroom during my free periods. I find that with the finger stick if I squeeze my finger more blood will come out. It is a PITA!!!

I am a type 1 diabetic and I eat leftovers from the night before - chicken or beef stirfry; cottage cheese; chic peas (low glycemic value). I was laughing reading about your finger prick situation. It is a pain in the neck when you are in public places to maneuver in the bathroom. You will get used to it! Use fuller fingers and massage your fingers upward before you prick. It gets the blood moving there. If you have a pricker, they usually have a knob that can change the intensity of the "prick".

You can have tuna and deli meats, just in moderation. My dietician (at my high risk doctors office) said that I can have turkey and ham. She also said that I can have tuna, but only once a week.
I have a sandwhich with either fruit, salad or cucumbers at least 2-3 times a week. Some days I go out to lunch and get a burger, but no bread with mashed potatos and a salad.
At work I just test at my desk. If I'm in a public place, I will either go to the car to test or just find a place to sit and test.

I tested at my desk. I would usually eat a grilled chicken sandwich with salad.

No problem! Having diabetes for 23 years has taught me lots of tricks! If you need any advice or support, you can always fm me! Long time diabetics usually know more than the doctors!

I don't have GD but I buy the wild salmon in the pouch and make it the same way I would make tuna salad. Mayo, a little dijon mustard, onion & celery. One pouch usually does two sandwiches for me.
It tastes really good & has omega3 as a bonus.

Re: Ladies with GD, who work during the day ...
I had GD. I monitored my blood at my desk. I don't care if it bothered people- i had to do it 7 times a day!
RE: food- i ate lots of hard boiled eggs, grilled chicken breasts, salads with fresh turkey and greens, Chinese Chicken & Broccoli, no rice.
