Late Ovulation

Does anyone have any experience with ovulating late in their cycle? I ovulated this month on CD18, which was Feb. 7th. I'm due for my AF on Thursday/Friday. I was reading how late ovulation can cause miscarriages (I have had 2, both at the 8 week mark) and was wondering if there was a correlation. My dr never mentioned that as a possibility to me and she knows about my ovulating late. Thanks, all!

Re: Late Ovulation

I have always ovulated late, my entire life.
I have longer cycles than most so I would ovulate on like CD 18 or so all the time.
I only got pregnant once so I can't speak from a ton of experience, but I had no issues getting or staying pregnant that time.
My Dr never mentioned that being an issue to me either.

Once I started charting my ovulation I realized this about myself, too. Never thought anything of it. I had a beautiful pregnancy with my DS, but 2 miscarriages since him. Now we're back into TTC and I'm just nervous. Thank you for replying!

Late Ovulation

Yeah, I've NEVER heard that it can cause MC... that doesn't make any sense to me. If anything, I could see how it could make TTC difficult as you don't ovulate like "normal", but if you track you should be able to learn when you O and work from there. For what it's worth, after the chemical I took 3 months off (not officially TTC, one month actually trying to prevent it), started acupuncture, and it then took another 3 months to get pregnant with DS.

Re: Late Ovulation

I have always ovulated late and very irregular. With my first child I ovulated around day 25. I had no complication and he is a happy healthy little boy.

Currently 9.5 weeks pregnant and ovulated around day 18 when we conceived.

I ovulate late & have long cycles (32-35 days usually) & so far it hasn't seemed to cause any problems with getting & staying pregnant thankfully.

I ovulate late, I also have been diagnosed with premature ovarian failure. I had a healthy boy in 2013 and I am 16 weeks with my second little guy. My 2 crazy miracles.

I don't see any reason to worry and make a correlation between the two!
Good Luck!

I've never heard of a correlation between the two. In fact, I conceived my DD on CD 30! Had no problems whatsoever and she is now a healthy 3.5 year old.

This, which made it difficult for finding sacs/heartbeats because if you went by the last day of the period like most OB's do I would be 2 weeks ahead of what I am right now but they did a sono right away at my new OB.

My DD (Suffolk obgyn) my first visit was no sono so when my next appt was a sono they told me there was no heartbeat and scheduled me for a DC, we got a second opinion and waited a week and yup there it was. I can't even begin to tell you how unprofessional Suffolk OBGYN was but that's another thread. If I would of listened to them pushing me for a D&C I wouldn't of had my now 4 year old DD.

Re: Late Ovulation

Going through many years of infertility I learned that eggs produced later in the cycle can have some defects/poorer quality and therefore lead to MC. Obviously not the case for everyone but it has to do with over exposure to hormones and other chemicals in the body (taking longer to mature) as well as why did it take longer to mature...is there a problem with the egg or did it just start maturing later in the cycle? If it started maturing later than less likely to have over exposure. HTH!

Re: Late Ovulation

I don't think it really matters how late you ovulate, just how long your LP is. If AF is due Thursday or Friday your LP is 12/13 days long which is perfect.
