Has anyone used this to make their lashes grow? My dermatologist gave me a script for it but I am a little nervous...

Re: Latisse
Ever since I heard it was originally a drug used to treat glaucoma and they realized the side effect was that people's lashes grew, I was leery. It's basically a glaucoma drug. I don't know. I'd try the castor oil or whatever that trick was first.

It is a glaucoma drug, you should see my grandfathers long, lush lashes!!! I would not use it either, but I'm leery about putting things like that near my eyes. I have also heard that once you stop using it, the lashes stop growing, so it has to be used consistently for a s long as you want long lashes. Just do some research and see if it's for you. My recommendation is to get two good mascaras, one lengthening , one volumizing and a lash primer.

I just removed my eyelash extensions and was looking for something. I am leary of Latisse as well due to the darkening of the eye side effect it has. I am using Castor Oil and R+F Lash Boost. I have seen some growth in the 3 weeks i have been using it.

No but my mom did and said that R&F worsk much better with no side effects.
Another amazing lash one- Amazon. I saw a girl in a salon and was WOW'd over how long they were. she even showed me before/after pics. also cheaper than R&F.

I agree. I use a lash primer and it makes a WORLD of difference. Like no lashes to lashes, in a second. Loreal makes one now- it's in a white tube Then I use 2 different mascaras on top of it.

Re: Latisse
I have. And it worked great.I was able to get it without a script in the past. But not anymore.
I'm now using R&F lash boost. Works ok. Not as good as Latisse though. Next time I'm at the dr I'm going to see about getting a script for it so I can start using it again.
ETS...I used primer and so many different mascaras in the past and nothing working like Latisse. Made a world of difference for me.

Castor oil works. I used castor oil and coconut oil to remove make up and I noticed my lashes grew longer. I have heard of some bloggers say it worked for them too.

Re: Latisse
I asked my oncologist about it back when treatment ended and I wanted to take stuff to help my hair grow back. She said absolutely no to Latisse. She said that it's a glaucoma drug so why put more meds in my body that my organs will need to metabolize, and since I am fair skinned with light eyes, I ran the risk of not only darkening my eye color but possibly my eyelid skin color as well.
I took Biotin instead.
Lash primers are awesome. My friend swears by the R&F lash stuff too but I never tried it.

I would try the R&F lash boost. There’s some other makeup company I see on Facebook, some lash company? They swear by their lash boost and mascara. I would try something like that first! I wouldn’t try medication

Makes sense. My other concern is glaucoma is higher than normal pressure in your eye. So the meds for it lower the pressure I would assume. Is it ok to be lowering the pressure in your eye when you don't have glaucoma? Scares me a little to be honest.

Yep. Not a risk I'm willing to take! Once your eyes get screwed up, there's no going back.

Side question - how much biotin did you take? I"m losing weight so my nails are breaking more and I have more hair loss than usual so wanted to start to take biotin supplements with my daily multivitamin but I have no idea how much to take. The internetz gives me a million different answers.....

The hair skin and nail vit I take has 5000 mcg and I definitely see a difference over time

Thanks, is that daily? I also read conflicting info that high doses can give you acne and slow down weight loss. So I keep on weighing my options.

Re: Latisse
I bought Rapid Lash from Costco when it was on sale for $35 before Christmas (it's $50 full price). I have been using for 3 weeks and my lashes are definitely longer.
I would buy it again. The ingredients seem natural and the reviews are good. It isn't tested on animals, which is important to me, too.

I'm horribly broken out since taking it, I had to stop.
Lose weight, clear skin or hair. Pick only 1.

Really? I/m surprised! I have been taking it for a few years now and I haven't noticed ANY break outs. I didn't even know that was a thing. And I never heard of gaining weight from it either. Did you gain weight? How long have you been taking it?

I was using this last year, and after a couple of months my sister mentioned that my eyelashes were longer. I felt the same way, but wasn't sure if it only was my hopeful wishing

I've been taking 5K a day for a week. I have huge zits on my cheeks and jawline. It's painful too. I'm not sure if I've gained weight, I weigh in on Saturday mornings and at that point it was also Xmas week so i only lost 0.2 but its not a fair to say either way since I had 2 days off of the diet.
There are lots of reports of it as a side effect of taking Biotin. You are lucky!
ETA: Seems that the problem is that the biotin counteracts B5. So if you are taking a combo supplement, maybe it has both Biotin and B5 in it and you are balanced. I was taking Biotin ONLY so I guess it threw everything out of whack.
Does Biotin cause acne
