No real info yet. I am sure it is not much for the average person though.

Re: Lawmakers announced a roughly $900 billion COVID-19 relief bill on Sunday
The agreement, announced by Senate leaders, would establish a temporary $300 per week supplemental jobless benefits and $600 direct stimulus payments to most Americans, along with a new round of subsidies for hard-hit businesses and money for schools, health care providers and renters facing eviction.

Re: Lawmakers announced a roughly $900 billion COVID-19 relief bill on Sunday
Critics are already slamming the unbalanced distribution of the nation’s resources in a draft of the new COVID-19 financial relief package after The Washington Post reported it includes a tax break for the so-called “three-martini” business lunch.
Regular workers, meanwhile, will get just $600 in stimulus cash from the government, which could be the equivalent of a bill for a single one of those corporate executive lunches.
The tax deductions for the meals — which is expected to cost the U.S. Treasury billions in tax revenue — was pushed by the White House and Republicans, and denounced by congressional Democrats, according to the Post. It’s included in a summary of the stimulus deal circulating among congressional officials, the newspaper reported.
President Donald Trump backed the deduction as a way to revive the restaurant industry amid the pandemic. But critics have said it would do little to help restaurants and would largely benefit business executives who don’t need taxpayer help.
Democratic leaders agreed to the provision in exchange for Republicans agreeing to expand tax credits for low-income families in the package, the newspaper reported.

Republicans. Always giving tax breaks to the super rich who don't need it and screwing over the average American who desperately needs a hand up. $600 is such a joke, that's not going to help people stay in their homes, pay their bills or keep food on the table. Our country has NO idea how to help itself.

It's sad that they really don't get it. Unemployment will get an extra $300 for 11 weeks but that is still just a bandaid for many.

i think they should be giving it to people who really need it and then maybe then can give more.
Plenty of people who have not lost income will get this money when they really should not be needing it.

The people that need it... like the super rich businessmen who are getting another tax benefit... which will eventually have to be paid for by the middle and lower class workers... Thanks, GOP.....
But even for the direct checks, I agree. I got a check the first time, and I don't need it to pay any bills. I've actually donated most of it to various charities over the course of the year. I would rather see the money go to people who need it.

We are blessed too to not need the money to pay bills so we just actually discussed saving for our child as they will eventually need a car for college.

One thing that could have really helped, is giving back flexible spending money that was put aside for child care and then never used. Instead that money is going straight back to the business, instead of the worker's pocket where it came from.

Wow, that really sucks. I never used the child care FSA, so I didn't even think about it, but yeah, that's a really bad deal. I was never happy about any of the FSA money going back to the employer. And this year, I would imagine that a lot of families are losing a lot of FSA money to their employer this year.

Have you inquired if they will lower the prices next year since they are holding the money?

Flexible spending money is MY salary, deducted from my paycheck and held aside. After I incur child care expense I submit for reimbursement. If the money is not "claimed" the flexible spending company gives the money back to the employer - effectively lowering my salary.
I happen to be caught in a double whammy, because you cannot use FSA for childcare for a child over a certain age. 2020 was the last year of eligibility, so I can't even use 2020 money during the 2021 grace period.

I actually wrote to our Washington representatives in both houses of Congress over this issue.

Oh wow, ok. Never used it for childcare as it was so many years ago. My company just automatically took the money from my paycheck as they were associated with the childcare at that time. I had to pay even if my kids weren't in there but the price was so much lower than going out on your own so it was worth it.

Take a look at where the money is going. It is horrible that they are helping out other countries before their own.

Sadly, there is no outrage over where some of the money is going. This should be staying in OUR country. It baffles me why we are sending money to other countries while ours barely has their head above water....actually we are downing. America first. Just like when you are going down on an airplane....help yourself before you start helping others. I’m livid that small businesses, local government isn’t getting anything. But good think millions are going to Pakistan and other places.

Nothing for state and local is a big hit. McConnell and most Senate Repubs were desperate to keep that out of the bill.
McConnell is just beyond vile for refusing to allow a vote on the HEROES Act which would have provided real relief.
I cannot say on a public forum what I really think of him. He singlehandedly has caused so much malaise in this country.

This bill is a combo of everyone who worked on it, not just McConnell.
Just wait until Biden gets in and see how many terrorists we pay off.

Pelosi was the one who couldn't understand why anyone would be excited over getting $1,000 as it is just "crumbs" to her. Must be nice. It comes from both sides who have NO clue about the average American.

Facts are so much fun to look up...
https://www.factcheck.org/2018/02/pelosis-crumbs-comment-context/
President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence ridiculed House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi for likening $1,000 bonuses paid to some employees as a result of the GOP tax cuts to “crumbs.”
Pelosi says the “crumbs” comment was comparing what workers got in the Republican tax bill to the rewards reaped by “corporate America.” ... Pelosi, Jan. 11: In terms of the bonus that corporate America received versus the crumbs that they are giving to workers to kind of put the schmooze on is so pathetic. It’s so pathetic. And I would hope that with their big advantage of bringing money home at a very low rate, that they would invest in infrastructure and things. But our experience has been that they will do dividends. They will do stock buy-backs and things like that. I think it’s insignificant. ...
She compared the pittance that the GOP is giving to average Americans vs the huge benefits given to the uber-rich.

You must not realize that McConnell alone wields control over most of what the Senate votes on.
That's how it works.
The HEROES act was passed in the spring and he won't allow a vote. It's unconscionable.
Democrats wanted so much more than Repubs and had to come down SO far to appease them.
It's appalling.
