Leapfrog Leapster and Tag

My children dont need any more big gifts for their birthdays or Christmas and we dont have a lot of room. DD is turning 4 in November and I wanted to get her the Leapster. It says Age 4 so I'm just looking for reviews from other moms. I figure she can have that for the car trip to Disney. And then I wanted to get her the Tag (not the Junior) for Christmas.

I'm still stuck on DS. I would like to get him a leapfrog or Vtech learning game as well, but he's a little behind other 2 1/2 year olds so I'm not sure what will be good for him. Any suggestions?

We already have the click start computer.

Re: Leapfrog Leapster and Tag

We have both the Leapster L-max and the Leapster 2.

We my older son who is now over 5.5 yrs old the Leapster L-max for Christmas or his b-day right around when he turned 3 yrs old. He was a little ahead for his age because he's gone to daycare/preschool since he was 6 weeks old. When he turned 4, we got him the Leapster 2 for his b-day and passed down the Leapster L-max to his little brother who was almost 2.5 yrs old at the time. He's also a little ahead because of school. I personally think 2.5 is a little too young for him to play by himself. We had to help him with all the games. His older brother also helped. He just turned 3 last month and he can only do limited things on it by himself. He has always tried to do it, but it's failry hard. I highly recommend the Leapster. The games are VERY educational and fun. They get so excited when they do things. But, at 2.5, it's not something they'll be able to sit by themselves and do. Definitely worth getting either now with some help or in the future. We also have the Tag system, but my kids hardly touch it. Don't know why though? Chat Icon
