Leaving Neverland

Anyone watch? What are your thoughts?

I am personally really really shocked at how many people are doubting these 2 men in the press and social media. I always felt the abuse was true...and its not uncommon for victims to stay quiet for years before they can admit to themselves what really happened.

I agree. There is so much doubt, but when you think about it, take out the sexual abuse claims for a second. What you are left with is a very strange man (MJ) who had bizarre relationships with young boys, which in itself is inappropriate too. He had sleepovers/mock weddings/etc. I believe these men, where there is smoke...

I haven't seen it and not sure I will since I heard it can be pretty hard to watch/hear at some points.
I have felt for years he was guilty. Just because he wasn't charged doesn't mean it didn't happen. Just like R.Kelly. And it makes me as anger as that situation.
And the parents! Don't even get me started on themChat Icon

OMG the parents.. I felt like I was watching 'Abducted at plain sight" all over again.Chat Icon I know predators groom and manipulate to get access. But the parents made it so easy for him to get access. He didn't even need to try, all because they were so enamored with fame and the life of a celebrity. Your first responsibility it to protect your children. And this was 80's, 90's - so I don't want to hear about 'that time'. Chat Icon

Just like R Kelly, I always believed the claims were true about MJ. I Believe McCauly Kulkin was a victim. They were too detailed and 100% believe they are telling the truth. I mean in hindsight, they admitted to protecting and loving him. Someone wouldn't be that detailed about their affection for an abuser if they were making it up.

I hate some of the other men who spent time with him defending MJ. Because, even if he was "normal" with them, that doesn't negate that he was inappropriate with the others. Like take abducted in plain sight. That's like her two other sisters saying that man wasn't sexual with them. Does that change the fact that he targeted and was sexual with their sister?!? NO.

So I believe these two men and support them no matter the backlash.

Exactly. Macaulay Culkin for example who has defended him all these years, maybe he was abused, but maybe not - I mean Macaulay was a huuuuuge celebrity, unlike some of the other boys who have claimed abuse. MJ probably knew MC was off limits...and honestly MC most likely had his own security team with him at all times, speculating of course.

Corey Feldman pisses me off too because you claimed you were abused and that is why Corey Haim was so messed up. But you are going to stand up and defend MJ as if it couldn't be a possibility. Knowing he openly admitted to sleeping with little boys in is room. I have no respect for him.

Re: Leaving Neverland

I didn't finish yet but what kills me is the parents. The same with R. Kelly. The parents practically throw there children to the wolves at the opportunity to be famous. I mean Wade's family leaving their 7 year old son to stay with him alone after having just met him. So bizarre!

For years I did not believe Michael Jackson did this. Even Wade and McCauly Culkin spoke out in his defense. Seemed like they were extorting him for money at the time. But I feel like at this point why would they lie? What is there to gain? He has been dead 10 years it’s not as though they are getting any money here. I am disturbed by the parents. What parents allow their children to have a sleepover with a grown man in the same bed? I haven’t seen it but not sure I want to. It’s all so disturbing...

I just finished the first episode last night and it is sickening. I really can’t believe the parents allowed this to happen. How do you let your child stay in hotel rooms and sleep in the same bed as a man???

Leaving Neverland

I think he’s guilty. But I think he was just so completely messed up. The level of fame he had, starting at such a young age, his mom was a nut, his father a horrible abuser of his children...I don’t think he ever stood a chance to be a normal human being.
That doesn’t justify any sexual abuse but it really seemed like he had the brain of a 6 year old in a grown mans body.

I started watching the first episode and totally believe the accusations. And, like everyone else, I don't understand how the parents could just leave their kid with a stranger. I guess it was just a different time back then? Everyone was so trusting?

I don't think its that everyone was trusting - but more that MJ seduced and groomed the families as well. If you have the biggest star in the world showing you attention, showering with you with money and gifts, etc, people get blinded by it. Obviously these families were into the entertainment business already - so I can see how it happened. Sickening.

Very true. Hearing the men talk about what happened to them made me want to hug them. So sad. Especially the parts where Safechuck was naming all the places/rooms in Neverland where he was abused. So disturbing.

See I can't get on board with this. I don't care what you are buying me but there is no way in hell I will ever let my child sleep in a bed with a grown @ss man. Even my mother would have never let that fly in the 80s with us. I am not saying that would have prevented the abuse or that the parents weren't groomed, but I don't know how anyone can justify a parent letting a child sleep in a bed with a grown adult.

The problem is our society worships celebrities. Singers, actors, sports players, useless twats like the Kardashians.
They can do no wrong.

We value that over doctors, scientists, cops and fireman- people who make a real difference in this world.

That's the root of a lot of this shit to be honest.

Yup lets call it for what it is... these parents wanted their child to be famous, rich, etc. and at what cost

At least both of these men seem to have a hard time with their families. I dont see complete forgiveness there. Unlike abducted in plain sight!!!

Anyone else scared for the men’s kids? The sad reality is that they suppressed this stuff for 20+ years if it’s true, and I believe it is, so the likelihood that they repeat it with their own children is so high.

There is millions of dollars to gain. They sued in probate and the judge dismissed the case and they have appealed. So they are still 10 years after Michaels death, going after his estate, basically trying to take money from Michaels kids.

I don’t think they are lying, but they certainly have a lot to gain.

actually Corey Feldman said he did not get abused by MJ but that he will not say these two men and/or others were not abused. He, being a victim of abuse will not discount what these men are saying. It is not his experience with MJ, but he is not saying these two were not abused. I actually think that he is being totally honest on what happened with him but I think he is not coming out and calling these men liars. He is supporting them yet telling his truth. Maybe Feldman and McCulkin were not abused because of their fame. I believe if Feldman had been abused he would speak up. He is not one to keep quiet on this

I never said MJ is the one that abused him. I said he claims he was abused so he should’ve thought before publicly defending MJ when this came out, knowing he was also a victim that people didn’t really listen to. Also Corey Feldman just changed his stance on MJ two days ago. When I wrote this he was defending MJ which I think is disgusting, since he was person who worked in the industry and got abused.

Look at his stance when this first came out. He literally is back tracking and it says it in many articles. So no I don’t have respect for him.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if Culkin was abused. Corey was a lot more famous than culkin. Seemed like Culkin was his replacement boy for a period. Again my opinion.

Money runs everything. It's the money and the pampering that blinded these parents Suites. private jets, vacations - all with the biggest star there was. I know if it were me or anyone in my immediate family - it wouln't fly. But unfortunately, I feel like I know of people IRL who would fall for this for the thrill of being "famous" even for alittle while. I only watched the first half yesterday and I found myself yelling at the TV every time the boys moms were interviewed. Every time they laughed or joke, I wanted to punch them in the face. Don't get me wrong, I am not completely blaming their mothers or families for their abuse because it was MJ who did it, but you have to see their part in this. A 7 YEAR OLD BOY knows no better. As a parent of that child, it's your job to try your hardest to protect them. From anything and everything. Sometimes accidents happen, you can't be everywhere, etc. BUT THIS? This was preventable. 100% preventable.

DH doesn't want to finish watching the other half he is so disgusted. I'll watch it though. For the 2 little boys sake.
