Let the tug of war begin for AJ at age 3
I thought it strange but last week I picked up AJ and she had a runny nose so one of the other teachers said "Lets go to my room and get a tissue, ok AJ?"
AJ was very polite said please and thank you Ms XX. Can I look at the butterflies please? Sure AJ. So AJ stood quietly and viewed the butterfly habitat this room has. The teacher told me how good, kind and courteous AJ is. Um thanks! I try. Then she asked AJ "Do you like this room AJ?" "yes" "You can come visit this room any time you like, ok" "Ok, thank you Ms XX"
Then the kicker: "So I will get AJ next year?" Umm.. I don't know. She's still not potty trained "But she'll be 3, right?" .. Well yes but not until after school starts. AJ's bday is Aug 22, school starts first week of Aug.
Fast forward to last night...
AJ's teacher says "have you chosen her primary teacher yet?" um.. no. "Come observe the classes, I recommend Ms. Carla for AJ and her personaity"
Sweet Jesus! You'd think I was picking a college for her. They have smallish classes with ages up to 3yrs in gap in one room. Each class has a teacher and assistant and they have two primary classes. And a bridge class. The Bridge teacher was the one with the butterflies. They take unpotty trained and will train them but they must show initiative for potty training first.
I guess AJ is a popular gal because this MORNING Ms Carla and the other primary teacher BOTH came up to me saying they were so excited to get AJ next year

Re: Let the tug of war begin for AJ at age 3
I had a similar struggle today.... DS's daycare has a 2 1/2 hour preschool (more learning). I asked the director about putting DS in it for Sept. she said he could go now but he'd lose his naptime (he NEVER naps at home). I talk to his teachers, she says he needs his nap. Back to the director - some of the staff like to hand-pick their kids (guess DS is well behaved).
Well, you aren't looking out for DS's best interest at this point.
And add an Ex-H into the mix....
Good luck with this MAJOR decision!

Re: Let the tug of war begin for AJ at age 3
yeah I wish I had thought ahead.. Now I have to figure out when I can take a day off work and go observe them because school ends June 7th!
She's out in the summer and next year I'd rather her start off in the class she'll be in all year instead of moving mid start, ya know?
Man I am so bad at this mom stuff!
