Let's share "best kept" secrets....
The lip gloss rave post had me thinking of best kept secrets that are out there that we wouldn't know about.
My favorite one I learned on here was the Monistat anti chafe gel that is an excellent makeup primer. It is true - I have been using it now for over a year!
what are other great tricks and bargains out there? Makeup brands that have been tried and tested and as good or better than the designer brands?
Clothing as well!

American Beauty tinted moisturizer in Kohls. I use it under bare minerals and its awesome! It's $25...I compared it to the Garnier BB Cream and I still like this one better. I alternate between the two and try to save the more expensive one!

Re: Let's share "best kept" secrets....
I recently discovered the brand NYX from watching a lot of You Tube makeup videos & reading makeup alley.
Ulta carries it & NYX sells direct on their website.
They have good lip glosses too. ($5.50) They are creamy & pigmented, not sheer. I also like their blushes. ($6)
Weird thing to note--their color names can be strange. Peach bush is more of a pink & beige lipgloss is a barbie pink.
My favorite thing from NYX though, is the jumbo eye pencil in Milk ($4.50). I use it under eyeshadow & it makes light & bright colors show up much better.
I also like the lip pencil. ($3.50) Thye are the regular wooden kind & the color part is pretty creamy. Also they have a nude, which I was having trouble finding elsewhere.
If I lived near an Ulta I'd be in trouble! So far I make a detour from my mom's house or order on-line.
Also- Milani eye pencils liquid eye pencils ( not the automatic) are similar to the Urban decay ones, but only around $6 & Maybelline gel liners ( in a pot) are similar to the Bobbi Brown ($22) ones, but only about $10. (I think I like Tarte $22) the best, but I have that in black & Maybelline in brown which I use less & they are equal to or better than Bobbie Brown)

Re: Let's share "best kept" secrets....
The "Color Icon" collection from Wet N Wild...now this is a brand that I used as a teen but because I am addicted to makeup vids on you tube I found out about this collection...
The eyeshadows are super pigmented and have terrific staying power..the blushes are excellent and They have one of the best bronzers I have ever owned..i wore it all this week and got many compliments daily about how my face looked...
My other best kept secret is Oil of Olay beauty fluid... the best moisturizer out there...

Re: Let's share "best kept" secrets....
I use the Monistat gel as an eye primer.
Love the asprin mask and mixing baking soda with face soap.
On the rare occasion that I don't wash my hair I sprinkle corn starch in my hair to reduce the oils. Works like a charm.
Brown sugar, salt and olive oil is a great foot scrub.
Not really a secret but I LOVE jojoba oil as a face moisturizer. All natural and doesn't make the skin oily.

I didn't know that the Monistat gel can go near the eyes. I have it & will have to try it.

Wow! How do you make those? it's very easy, saw it on TV a while back and then saw a video when I googled. Here is the video , lets see if I can post w my Ipad Nose strips
"Michelle Phen is my all time favorite with her easy and wearable styles and DIY. Coming back to the topic, what attracted me to this video is that it can be made with only 1 teaspoon Milk & 1 teaspoon Gelatin, and that's it!! No more lengthy procedures, no messing around and no waiting period to make pore strips, just mix above two ingredients, keep it in microwave oven for 10seconds, and POOF! Your nose strips are ready to be used!!"
The video is also on youtube . Just google home made nose strips.

Re: Let's share "best kept" secrets....
Not sure if its a secret but Target brand sunscreens have been rated the best by many product raters (if that is their proper name)--I don't buy Coppertone or Banana Boat anymore!
Also, its not a cheap secret but Mario Badescu Drying Cream gets rid of zits for my literally overnight---I couldn't rave more about this product!

Re: Let's share "best kept" secrets....
This is a little over the top but it works for me.
I use 2-3 different concealers for my bad dark circles.
Bobbi brown light peach after my eye cream and before foundation. Then after foundation I put amazing cosmetics concealer (just a little) and blend.

Re: Let's share "best kept" secrets....
I use white vinegar to rinse shampoo out of my hair. Mix it with cold water and it gets rid of all buildup and makes my hair VERY shiny. Vinegar is a natural degreaser and it works well! I also make my own body scrub out of salt and a little olive oil. Very exfoliating and moisturizing! And as for products, I'm loving the E.L.F. Zit Zapper lately! It's $1.00!
