Lets talk Lobster Rolls
I feel like more and more places are offering them each year, which is great. But sometimes they are just not a good lobster roll. Can you please list where we will find REAL lobster rolls on LI - preferably Nassau? By real I mean lobster meat only (no celery or other fillers) toasted roll and very very light mayo or no mayo, but butter instead.
I had one a couple weeks ago at Left Coast Kitchen and it was a very good lobster roll.

I know you said Nassau, but Flo's in Blue Point has a great one. Barely any mayo, fresh herbs, big chunks of lobster that are actually recognizable as claws, tail, etc. It's on a toadted potato hot dog bun. They also have little chunks of cucumber in the mixture. So yummy!

Re: Lets talk Lobster Rolls
No idea about LI (maybe Jordan's in Island Park ???) but DH and I had a date day one day last summer where we went into the city and went to Luke's for their lobster rolls. DH had seen them on the Michael Symon's Food Feuds on the Food Network, against Ed's, and wanted to go try it. They were great. I think this year we're going to try Ed's

Re: Lets talk Lobster Rolls
I will drive out east for a good lobster roll. But if there is celery or any other filler (exception being a very thin bed of lettuce on the bottom) I will be so disapointed. And if there is too much mayo, its like flushing money down the toilet. LOL. Im very particular with lobster rolls. I had one at Pops in Island park last year and that was good! I just like to know ahead of time what places are safe to order lobster rolls from. haha.

Random question...but do you know if this place was ever known as Nick & Flo's? Say maybe 10-15 years ago or so?

Really? I was thinking of getting it last time I went but decided against it. Totally in a lobster roll mood too. I told DS we could go there this weekend.

Re: Lets talk Lobster Rolls
This is going to sound crazy, but Panera's lobster salad sandwich is better than any lobster roll I've ever had. My best friend is from Massachusetts and has spent tons of time all over New England, and even she agrees.
It does not come on a toasted roll though, it's on sourdough bread. But there is hardly any mayo, you get BIG chunks (sometimes whole claws) of lobster, and the only other thing on it is a little lettuce.

NO KIDDING?! I'm going to have to try that!
I've had the lobster rolls at Jordan's and they're ok.
Honestly, I make my own alot with Langoustine tails from Trader Joes. Its a nice summer dinner

I live near Jordans and have never been! I Always want to go though! I saw a picture of their lobster roll and it had celery in it- is that accurate? I wonder if I ask for no celery and mayo on the side if they will do that...

Are the tails sold frozen or fresh? I have never noticed them at TJ's before! I would do this at home!! Im so picky with lobster rolls when i go out. They are not cheap! And I grew up in maine so I get really annoyed when they are called a "Maine lobster roll" and are made wrong.

I believe it was. I know it was for sale about 10 years ago and they must have changed the name to just Flo's. It's the one right in front of Corey beach.

They're frozen. They're not cheap. I think they're around $13/bag now. Its not a true Maine Lobster Roll but it definitely hits the spot

Re: Lets talk Lobster Rolls
My brother owns Sand Castle on the Ocean on Fire Island and their lobster roll is amazing! Huge chunks of lobster, NO filler, a touch of mayo, served on a toasted croissant.

Yep! That's the one. I used to go there every year with my family; I was wondering if it was the same.

I usually get 4 stuffed. I've stretched it more too but this is what I typically do. I use split top hot dog rolls

FINALLY went today after 3 attemts (2 ruined by rain, one by a cranky kid).
It did have a lot of lobster meat and little mayo. I thought it had more celery than cucumber. It did have a lot of black pepper.
I wonder if it was real lobster or immatiation though- it was stuffed with lobster, came with fries and was only $12.50.
