Let's talk Prenatal Vitamins and time of day
I take Pruet DHA....(the generic of Duet DHA). It says to take one hour before, or 2 hours after a meal. Because of my work, etc, this isn't always possible. A lot of times, we eat late and then I go to bed soon after. So, sometimes I do take them soon after eating. Is this bad? Am I not absorbing them?

Can you take it in the AM? I used to leave my on my bathroom counter so I didnt forget and took it in the morning when I went in the shower before getting ready and having breakfast.

Re: Let's talk Prenatal Vitamins and time of day
I take mine at night because of my thyroid medication. I never heard that you had to take them two hours after a meal. I sometimes don't remember to take them and you actually reminded me tonight so thanks. Don't worry-I've never heard that. It is probably optimal but not realistic-KWIM? Maybe take them in the morning when you first wake up if that works better.

Re: Let's talk Prenatal Vitamins and time of day
I take them at night before I go to bed. 30 min to 3 hours after dinner, depending on the night.
Some vitamins/minerals absorb better on emptier stomach, but they will still absorb.

Re: Let's talk Prenatal Vitamins and time of day
from what i've learned, if i had a glass of milk within 2 hours of my pre-natals, the calcium in the milk will be absorbed in my body first. if i introduced more calcium from the pre-natals before the 2 hrs, my body would not absorb the excess. from what i was told, my body can only absorb so much at once, so anything i intake additionally may be a waste.

I take Prenexa and the instructions are the same; either an hour before a meal or 2 hours after a meal.
I get up early to drive DH to the train so as soon as I get up, I take it. That gives me plenty of time before Id even think about eating breakfast.

I'm taking target now, but I was taking Duet for my first pregnancy. I always take them right before I go to sleep.

Re: Let's talk Prenatal Vitamins and time of day
I think that's the one I took the first time around. I took it in the morning before I left for work and then I ate breakfast as soon as I got there. It used to make me nauseaus though.
Now I'm taking Duet (and I'm ASTOUNDED by how expensive they are!!) and I read all of the paperwork and it didn't say anything about taking it before or after a meal so I take it when I get to work right before I eat. Anything to stave off the nausea.

Re: Let's talk Prenatal Vitamins and time of day
i take a store brand one at night + omega 3-6-9...no issues.
u could always try having some crackers or something with them. i know some medications (not prenatals) they say to take with milk...so that might help.

Re: Let's talk Prenatal Vitamins and time of day
I don't take the same brand as you but I was taking mine before bed with a light snack. However they started bothering me so now I am taking them after dinner. I need to have something in my stomach of they make me really sick.
