Lets talk strollers (I have no idea!)
OK being a first time mom and seeing all the different kinds of strollers they have..I am soooo confused on what I should get! Who got the travel stroller? Is it worth it? What stroller did you get and would recommend? TIA!!!

Re: Lets talk strollers (I have no idea!)
DS is 4 months- we have the Chicco travel system. We like it, but I don't know if I am going to use it with the next baby. We also have a Maclaren ultra lite that we are going to start using now that he is holding his head up, so we really only got 4 months out of the stroller portion, we will still use the infant seat portion since he is not big enough for the convertible. Baby # 2 is due in June, and we will probably just use the infant seat with him/her, and sell the stroller portion or bring it to Once Upon A Child.

We registered for the baby jogger city mini and it has gotten rave reviews on every site that I have looked it up on. Come in tons of cool colors too!
We registered for the snap and go to use with the infant seat

Re: Lets talk strollers (I have no idea!)
3 words:
baby bargains book
seriously, buy that book.... it's worth the cost even if you only read the stroller section
it tells you what features you'll need according to your lifestyle, and what you should avoid..... then it tells you which strollers have the best reviews.
genius!
IMO, strollers are one of those things where other people's opinions are of limited use... just becuase they may have completely different needs than you... if you live in the suburbs and go to the mall and food shopping once a week, a woman living in the city and taking the subway will not give you much valuable input, becuase her stroller is being used very differently than yours will be.

Re: Lets talk strollers (I have no idea!)
We aslo registered for a Chicco travel system. Knowing nothing about strollers, Chicco came highly recommended, and I thought they were nice looking to. I test drove on in the store, and it seemed very easy to use and had great maneuverability.
Also going to add a Maclaren umbrella, as I heard those are the best.

Re: Lets talk strollers (I have no idea!)
I live in the burbs and had no clue either. I went with a good friend's recommendation: The Chicco Cortina travel system.
She lives near me, also has a son and lives a similar lifestyle that I do. I got my travel system the other day and love it.
This one apparently has gotten rave reviews as well, is light, and easy to open/close.

Re: Lets talk strollers (I have no idea!)
I didn't get a travel system b/c I didn't like the look of any of them. I got the infant seat & the snap & go for the beginning which I used ALL the time.
I got a regular stroller that i liked the look of better than any of the travel systems (a Bumbleride) and I love it. My feeling is that even if you have a travel system your not going to want to use it all together (w/the infant seat) when you can just get the snap & go, which is so much lighter and easier to unfold then the big stroller.

as for the "regular" stoller...we are thinking of the Peg Perego Pliko 3. It comes very highly recommended. I seem to have trouble opening and closing it, but I feel like it will get easier with practice, so we are still leaning towards it.
If not, we are thinking of the Bumbleride Indie.

Re: Lets talk strollers (I have no idea!)
I highly recommend graco if you are getting a travel system.
There is a lightweight bottom piece that you can buy (naturally) so you don't have to tote around a huge stroller.
I think Chicco may carry this kind of contraption as well.
I wish I had known about it. We have an evenflo and its great, but its so heavy taking it in and out of the trunk.

HI, I live in the suburbs and we got the BOB revolution. DH and I are both active people and we wanted a stroller of all terrain and fell in love with the stroller. Image Attachment(s):

This is the snap and go, that Chicco infant car seats do fit into.

Re: Lets talk strollers (I have no idea!)
DH said that buying a stroller was worse than car shopping!!!
My advice...I got the big bulky Peg Pergo Centro...Love it but its impractical for every day use.
While DS was in the infant carrier the snap and go was amazing, has a huge basket, easy to use, fold, unfold, push etc, compact and light, cup holder for mom. Great!!!
The Peg Pergo is nice for long walks, when we go to afair or something but for day to day it takes up too much space is heavy and takes 2 hands to fold and unfold.
Now I have the Inglesina Swift which I love, comparable to a Maclaren, it reclines, folds with one hand, leaves me plenty of room in my Jetta's trunk.
If I had it to do all over I wouldnt have gotten the big stroller. JMO.

I have the chicco travel system. it is big and takes up a lot of trunk space but it is a nice stroller/system. i didn't get a snap and go b/c I didn't like how the chicco seat strapped into it. the chicco stroller handles well and holds up well. it even takes to some off roading well. we have maclaren quest sport for when DD is older.

Re: Lets talk strollers (I have no idea!)
oh I should at least add what we have didn't even mention it in my original post....
becuase port jeff has such bumpy sidewalks, yet we'll occassionally go shopping, we chose the bumbleride indie
Like all all-terrain strollers, it's heavy and a tad bulky relative to most travel system strollers geared towards suburbanites, yet unlike strollers will smaller wheels, it will navigate our town and other bumpy surfaces much better... It is apparently the lightest and most compact all-terrain, so it's a happy compromise

Re: Lets talk strollers (I have no idea!)
the travel system was just way too bulky for me to be lifting on my own, without DH. We just got a Snap & Go, then a reg stroller for when she is over 1 yr

Re: Lets talk strollers (I have no idea!)
I didn't register for a travel system. They seemed kind of bulky. I got a snap 'n go to use with the infant car seat at the beginning. I also got a Peg Perego Pliko P3, which is pretty lightweight and seems good for walks around the neighborhood. I also registered for a Maclaren Quest Sport, which is extremely lightweight and seems good for short errands/trips. It also seems like a good choice for when the baby is a little older.
I definitely agree with the recommendation on Baby Bargains. I used that to help narrow down choices and then I tested out several brands in the store. Good luck!

Re: Lets talk strollers (I have no idea!)
I am still deciding, but my biggest thing (next to safety of course) is ease of use, including weight, manuverability, easy folding, storage.
So far I have narrowed it down to the Jogger City Mini and the Peg Perego Pliko P3. This was just based on trying them in the store and a few reiews.
At first I was thinking of the Bugaboo Frog or the Peg Perego Skate, but after seeing how big they were and not easy to fold and put in my trunk (they are very big), I started looking at others.
Good luck.

Re: Lets talk strollers (I have no idea!)
Thanks for all you input and suggestions!!! There are a few I have in mind. DH and I decided against the travel system strollers and rather the snap n' go for the earlier months and a stroller for later. Still picking a stroller out is so hard! I have to go to BRU this week or next and look at them and read the reviews. I definitely feel it's harder than buying a car!

I have this stroller and I absolutely love it. I have a Maclaren Quest which is great for malls, airports, and the city. I highly recommend this combo -- I feel like it covers all the bases.
You might also want a Snap'n'go for the first few months.
