Re: Lets try this again...Buddy the rottie NEEDS A NEW HOME
I might be misinterpreting, but she stated that the dog is still a puppy & likes to jump. She then stated that a home with no kids or older kids is better.
And really, why are you getting so abrasive...the "know-it-alls"... is that really necessary? I do agree with your facts. The truth is even no-kill shelters will euthanise an unplaceable dog...but why not just say that...why get so condescending?
She is trying to help someone else....she is NOT the one who owns the puppy. Why continue to berate her about it?

ita. I do agree with you, life is great. Most shelters/organizations wont adopt out an agressive dog. But I guess that will be determined when/if the dog is placed in a shelter/at a rescue organization.

Re: Lets try this again...Buddy the rottie NEEDS A NEW HOME
You definitely misinterpreted, condescending and berating...NO!
Two years old is not a puppy. The original post said adult home, no young kids. You know exactly what that means. This person is being misinformed..first of all, AH will NOT take the dog if you show up in person with a donation. Neither will the A.
I know the BAW will not take the dog. NSALA will not take the dog, they don't take back half of what they adopted out.
Have to be very careful with breed rescue..but doubt it would come to that anyway..they will not take him...that is reality. His best chance of adoption is privately. Craig's list is a dangerous place to advertise, never know who is who.
Truth be told, this poor dog is a rotti mix, one of thousands seeking a home, it is not easy to find.

Re: Lets try this again...Buddy the rottie NEEDS A NEW HOME
Forgot to include in my last post...the reason why I referred to "know it alls" is because that statement was made to me..you did not seem to have a problem when it was addressed to me...why? My response to that statement was "no, I am not a know it all", just "know what I see and experience". I hope for the dog's sake careful consideration is given and not because the owner wants to relinquish the dog asap.

Re: Lets try this again...Buddy the rottie NEEDS A NEW HOME
Here we go. I said a home with no kids or older kids is best because I don't want the dog to knock over and possibly hurt a young child. The dog is not aggressive AT ALL. He likes to lean if you are petting him, he weighs 80 lbs, he is a big dog.

Had nothing to do with the post going down so lets get that straight.
I never said you were the reason my post got taken down. I said you got on me about my wording.
By now, save yourself the drama and save everyone the aggrivation of posting. Seriously..I'm just trying to find this dog a new home.

wow LifeisGreat--- do you just sit around WAITING for posts for you to spew your information and sound super high and mighty?
seriously get OVER yourself.....all you are contributing to the issue is negativity and yes...you're being a KNOW IT ALL
people are suggesting things for the OP to do---and you are saying "no that won't work....they won't take it and its because blah blah blah" at least she's trying to help the dog out....so please just simmer the hell down
oh and fyi---if you READ the post you'd see she never said the dog was BAD behaved---she simply mentions that since he loves to jump....he might be better for a household with either older kids or no kids. since he's 80 lbs.---he might not be the best option for a home with small kids.

I 100% completely agree. Some people just need to get over themselves. All this girl is doing is trying to find this dog a good home. She came on here to ask for help for this dog and all your doing is bashing her for having to get rid of the dog. You know what? Things happen. We don't know the facts behind why her brother has to move, we don't know anything about her and her life. There is no reason to verbally bash her for something she is not responsible for. She is just trying to help this poor dog.

I have an idea....Let's not give any validity to those ridiculous posts...Obviously some people are not here to help and it would be nice if we could not turn this into another pulled thread.
There are many things I would like to say at this point, but I'm totally biting my tongue!

Exactly-- I was telling MrsPJB that yesterday. Nobody knows the situation. Exactly like you said it--
I wish I had all hours of my morning/afternoon/night to sit on LIF and wait for people to repost so I could bash everything that comes out too...but unfortunately, that's not the case

Re: Lets try this again...Buddy the rottie NEEDS A NEW HOME
#1...if you are trying to find a home for a dog you do not incorrectly label the dog...being 80 lbs. has nothing to do with whether or not it should be adopted out to a household with children. When you say it should not be adopted out to a household with children you are implying it is aggressive..that makes it very hard to find a home in a world where there is already thousands seeking the same.
As for negative statements...since some of you seem to follow my every move you obviously have read my other posts with helpful links and information on other topics as well as offers for FREE spay and neuter services.
As for having nothing better to do than wait for your posts, do not flatter yourselves..check the time frame between your posts and mine.
This dog will never find a home if the person seeking assistance keeps listening to the wrong information or worse be placed in a home that is wrong. Do you people realize this is a rotti mix? Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a home for this breed?

To the person that is attemping to find this dog a home, you may FM me and I will inform you how you can go about it in a way that will be favorable to the dog. As for everyone else, volunteer at a shelter for a day, maybe you will learn something. I was referred to the pet site because it was felt there was a need, it is actually worse than I was told and based on the posts it does not appear it will get any better anytime soon.

Re: Lets try this again...Buddy the rottie NEEDS A NEW HOME
Have you looked into courtesy postings at some of the volunteer shelters like Save-A-Pet, Bid-A-Wee or Little Shelter. They will have the posting in their shelter and on their websites. Sometimes they will even allow you to have meetings at their facilities, although I have only worked with one of those shelters so I don't know if they all do it.
The dog is still young, a lot of vets consider them to be "puppies" until they are at least 5. As far as the jumping, that is a behavior that can be easily corrected most likely...I don't think it's typical in the breed like with my JRT and he has been trained not to jump and it has helped.
Good luck and I hope you can find him a home. Keep posting here as there have been other animals adopted by posters.

Re: Lets try this again...Buddy the rottie NEEDS A NEW HOME
HOW DID I INCORRECTLY LABEL THE DOG? I SAID HE WAS 80 LBS TO LET PEOPLE KNOW HOW MUCH HE WEIGHED. AGAIN- A HOME WITH NO CHILDREN OR OLDER CHILDREN WOULD BE BETTER BECAUSE HE LIKES TO JUMP--HE IS A PUPPY AND HE'S 80 LBS AND I DON'T WANT A CHILD TO GET HURT. IF HE WAS AGGRESSIVE I WOULD HAVE SAID HE WAS AGGRESSIVE.
MY DEEPEST APOLOGIES TO YOU LIFEISGOOD--THE ALL MIGHTY DOG GOD FOR NOT POSTING IN TERMS THAT YOU LIKE. I HOPE YOU CAN FORGIVE ME.
AND FYI-YOU HAVE NOT HELPED ME AT ALL. IF YOU THINK THAT TELLING ME IM IRRESPONSBILE AND MISINFORMING IS HELPING, PLEASE, DON'T FLATTER YOURSELF WITH ALL THE HELP YOU HAVE GIVEN. I DON'T CARE HOW MANY SHELTERS YOU'VE WORKED AT-OR HOW MANY DOGS YOU'VE SEEN GET TURNED AWAY. FRANKLY-YOU ARE NOT HELPING ME ONE BIT.
AGAIN, THE BOTTOM LINE IS I NEED TO FIND THIS DOG A NEW HOME. CLEARLY-IT WON'T BE YOURS.
GO ON YOUR MERRY WAY NOW

In the interest of keeping this thread from getting pulled again, lets try to move past the drama.
It's more important that you find this dog a home, not have a pizzing match with someone you don't even know IRL.

Re: Lets try this again...Buddy the rottie NEEDS A NEW HOME
LIF: Thank you.
I agree that this has taken a turn away from finding the dog a home. It is unfortunate that some are on the defense and refuse to accept helpful information from individuals that have experience in these areas.
Truth be told that if an owner is surrendering a dog and makes a statement "the dog should not be with children because of size, weight etc." that statement will actully hurt the chances of the dog being accepted into a shelter or adopted. The shelter or rescue organization will think the dog has behavioral issues. There were several shelters suggested that would take the dog, I know for fact they will not, for many reasons, none of which is because "I am a know it all". It is sad that this dog is falling through the cracks. Hopefully when the day comes and the adopter/owner will no longer keep the dog, the person who is seeking to find it a home will come forward. There were suggestions about rotti rescue..let me share a story for those that seem to think they know about breed rescue. Several years ago a young 6 month old rotti female was surrendered to rotti rescue, which was on LI. The dog had not an aggessive bone in her body. She had been kept in a closet from date of birth until her mother gave birth again and the owner could not sell her. She was like a stone, she did not move, bite, nothing, it was almost like she was not alive..it was tragic. Rotti rescue took her and said they would work with her...agreement was to return her if they could not...after one week they euthanized her because they felt she was unadoptable..all my previous posts were based on experience and facts, for those that have limited experience to behave in the manner they have is shameful. And yes the person that adopted the dog and now decides he needs to get rid of the dog is irresponsible.that is truth. Just because he took it from a shelter does not mean two wrongs make a right. I sent out a post stating that the person could FM and I would provide that person with information and organizations that might be of assistance..instead I get an FM from an angry, abusive immature person.
