Levittown Homes
I have a question regarding Levittown homes, I notice online MLS lists them as having an attic, and I was wondering if what they are considering as an attic is the 2 bedrooms that are upstairs?
If that is considered the attic what do you use for storage then? Most homes I have looked at online in Levittown do not have basements.
Thanks, sorry for the odd question, I've never seen one of the homes in person before just researching online for the time being.

Sometimes the 2nd floor is not fully dormered so there are knee walls on the 2nd floor. They would be storage space and called an attic. It is also possible if there is an attached garage to have an attic above the garage. Levitt homes are upgraded and remodeled differently by everyone so it is so hard to generalize. The one universal truth about Levitt homes - no basements.

I wouldn't consider the upstairs as the attic. I lived in the upstairs of a levitt home for years and one of the closets had a crawl space. There may have also been a pull down at the top of the stairs but I'm drawing a blank.
Most homes in Levittown do not have basements. My IL's use the garage for storage.

I have a Levitt home and we have a crawl space. I guess that would be considered the attic.

When the Levitt homes were built the upstairs was unfinished and considered an attic. Over the years most people have finished the upstairs and turned it into two bedrooms; some have added a bathroom.
I live in a Levitt (it's actually for sale) and we use the garage as storage as well as a shed in the backyard.

I do not have a Levitt house but it is very similar. We are front dormered so we have attic space on the back side.
We also use the rafter space in the garage as storage and we built a shed that we put a ton of stuff in.
If we full dormer and lose the attic space then we will just get a storage space in a facility if needed. They aren't that expensive.

Re: Levittown Homes
Couple of points to add -
You mentioned you are looking in Levittown, and there are some pockets of Levittown where you will find homes with basements. For example, up in north Levittown, west of Wantagh Ave, there is a section of Island Trees school district that has Miller capes, which were built with basements.
If you are looking at a true Levitt home, they were all built on slabs, so no basement.
Most people in Levitts do have sheds in the yard, and a lot of buyers looking at Levitts insist on having a garage. Also, as other posters have said, many Levitt owners customize their homes in different ways, so some people have added additional and deep closets (nramboni's home -- to tout my listing! lol -- has a lot of additional closet space, more than what you find in the average Levitt). I've also seen people, especially when the upstairs is dormered, take space from the smallest bedroom and use it for storage (or a laundry room/storage room).
Personally, I think attic space is the least desirable form of storage. I have a split level with two attics. One has all of our central air stuff in it, but the other is pretty inaccessible. We keep Christmas stuff up there, but it's a total pita to get it out. I beg my DH to put things in the garage or basement versus the attic. Unless you have a huge attic with pull down stairs for access, I don't know that attic storage is all that useful for stuff you use even on a very irregular basis!

I agree. We dont use our crawl space. Our garage was converted into living space but we have a big shed and a lot of closet space. So we use the shed and closets for storage.

Re: Levittown Homes
Excellent posts above. Iff the ad says two bedrooms an attic then the upstairs is usually unfinished snd considered an attic. If the ad says 3 or 4 bedrooms then the attic is referring to the crawl spaces.
