LI Half Marathon
Hey girls how is everyone doing with their training? I am pretty much ready but I also did the More half a month ago so last Saturday I did 11 this week I will do 10 and ready! I am actually excited to do it this year since last year was my first half and I hated it b/c I was so nervous and the weather was horrible hot and humid!

Re: LI Half Marathon
I'm doing OK - I have no idea what to expect, to tell you the truth, so I am being very zen about it. If someone told me 5 yrs ago - or even 2 yrs ago, that I woukd be running at ALL - let alone a half, I would laugh in their face!

Re: LI Half Marathon
I think I'm doing okay. My only concern is that I haven't ran far outside yet. My furthest run was 10miles but that was on the treadmill. When I did the 10K a few weeks ago I was so sore after so I'm afraid I'm going to get sore before finishing the 1/2...like my knees.
I plan on doing a 10 mile road run at some point before 5/1!
eta: i have no concern whatsoever as far as having the endurance...I think I'll be okay on that end.

Re: LI Half Marathon
I am soo ready to run - but I can't due to a knee injury. I have a doctors appt next week and am hoping they can work some miracle so I can run, but I doubt it. Good luck girls! I will be there cheering on my brother and friends, and I will have my camera! So if I see any of you I will be sure to take some pics for you.

Re: LI Half Marathon
I have been training, but still haven't registered. I don't know why I am having so much trouble pulling the trigger. I think I might wait and register the weekend of the race. DH and I are both wimps and don't want to run if it's supposed to rain. Hot and cold I can deal with. Wet...not so much.
I haven't been doing nearly as many miles per week as I want, but my long runs have been ok (I did 10.5 3 weeks ago, and then 8 both of the past 2 weeks). I am hoping to get in some runs while I am off from work this week, and then one more longish one (6-8) this weekend. I know I can finish, I just don't know if it will be pretty

You'll be fine...I did a lot of training last spring on the TM for my half and did well. Sometimes I think the TM helps you more than you would imagine.

Good luck - don't worry, there will be plenty of half marathons. I know it's disappointing, but it will be much more enjoyable to do it when you are healed.

Have you ever done the Brooklyn? I liked it a lot. Nice and flat for the most part.

No, first time! I'm nervous about the 2 loops of Prospect Park - supposed to be hilly. Not sure when you did it last, but I saw they reversed the course a few years ago. It used to start in Coney Island and end in Prospect Park, now it's reversed.

I did it when it was the other way. I think it will be better now because you get the hills over with first, and then the rest is flat. I actually remember wishing it was opposite because it stunk to run 9 miles flat, and then hit the hills! Good luck!

Oh boy....I'm going to hate the hills. I do agree though, better to get them overwith when the legs are fresh.
