LI IVF question

So i had my HSG done and it came back completely normal.
I'm waiting to get my period so we can move ahead with a cycle.
I've been seeing Dr. Zinger in the Brooklyn office and I let him know that my periods were very irregular. I asked if i should take the Provera to bring it on and he said no, that I would have a better cycle if I got my period normally.

Let me preface that when i was trying for my daughter, i still got my period regularly, however, after i got my period back post partum, it never went back to normal and it can take anywhere from 2-3 months for the next cycle to begin.

When I had to have the HSG done, i waited almost 2 months, got sick of waiting and just asked my OBGYN for the provera, which i took (the RE didn't know that but I wasn't seeing him at the time) and got my period, although it wasn't what i would describe as a regular flow.

Anyone else heard of this? a friend of mine always had to take provera to induce her period while she was TTC and she never mentioned that the cycle would be better without it.

I was never told that either. I would be waiting months for it to naturally come without taking provera or coming off progesterone
