LIDL - Plainview thoughts
any one shop here. I've been going, nothing great, not a place for food shopping.
Mostly buy yogurt, chocolate croissants, some fruit if on sale
Anyone else go, thoughts.

Ugh! There was a Best Market very close to my house and it was so convenient. It just closed on Thursday and will be re-opening as a LIDL. I never loved Best Market, but definitely not looking forward to having a LIDL replace it. (Haven't been to one yet, but have not heard good things)

its not for food shopping more like a trader joe but not as good.
Yogurts are cheap. I'm told because they dont unpack the boxes so its help your self.
They dont help you pack, in order to move the lines a long they have two shoots (convey belts). If you go I'd love to hear your thoughts

LIDL - Plainview thoughts
I went to the one in Babylon, didn't like it. Small selection of food (specifically canned veggies, who would have thought a german based shop wouldnt have sauerkraut.). All meats shrink wrapped, no deli. Fruits and Veggies pre-bagged. I dont need 5 pounds of potatoes, I need 2 potatoes!

Re: LIDL - Plainview thoughts
I'll be the outlier. I love LIDL. It's overwhelming to me when there are too many choices. LIDL makes it easy for me to shop quickly. They'll have four yogurt options, not 40.
Their prices are good -- $0.50 seltzers -- and the roses I bought there lasted for ages.
There are some things they don't carry and I agree that it's frustrating to have to buy some things in larger quantities than I'd like.

Re: LIDL - Plainview thoughts
I love Lidl. I do most of my shopping there and have been for a few years.
I just think it will take a while for it to catch on in the US. I think we might have more of a selection then you guys have.
I get my vegetables and fruit there. On Saturdays after a certain time you can get a discount. I think it is different there, though.
These are some things you can’t go wrong with:
Packaged ham like prosciutto. Bread from the bakery. Chocolate Cheese Clothes and little household goods, like pans and extension cords, etc. Wine Cleaners. The W5 brand is pretty good and cheap. The meat is OK. I wouldn’t get steaks there, though.
I find their store brands are really good and quality. You can google the brands, but some are like Fin Carre for chocolate, Delano for deli meats, W5 for cleaners, Milbona for milk, etc.
They also announce their specials for the week ahead of time. For example, there will be Italian week and you can get Italian products. Then one week they might have electronics and computers. You can check online and sometimes order from online. I ordered a great desk there and it’s still going strong years later.

after a certain date they sell items at a discount just to sell it.
I like the chocolate croissants but thats all from the bakery. I dont think the $$ are that great for most of the bakery. Maybe I'll try a bread next time
