Re: Life with a newborn...

I guess I'm the oddball here. I don't find it difficult at all to do things for myself with the baby. She sleeps a lot and did so much more in the beginning, so I would shower, eat, pee, etc. when she was sleeping. Even if she was awake and I had to pee or eat, I would do so. You CAN put a baby down and leave them in the swing/bouncy, etc. for five minutes while you run to the bathroom. Just make sure they are strapped in and I don't think they will be going anywhere It's amazing how much I have learned to do one handed
I agree. I didn't find it hard to do anything. He slept soo much and when he wasn't if I had to do something I just did it. Either I put him in the bouncer or swing and did what I had to do.

Me too. I didn't find it hard whatsoever...if he was up and i had to pee, in the basinet he went for a minute! I would make meals while he slept, and when i needed to shower I placed him in his bouncer and brought it outside the bathroom door so i could check on him. It gets easier!

Re: Life with a newborn...
The mommies already gave you great advice, Lauren..so I don't have much to add, other than I felt exactly like you felt after having Nikolas and couldn't figure it all out for awhile
just know that these weeks are the hardest to adjust to in general.. but once you get into a groove everything will fall into place

This will be me too...... I actually took care of my needs after his feeding/changing diapers etc in the early morning. I found he slept more soundly then. And if he cried(not for a long period of time ofcourse), it's fine too. It's good for them as it helps them develop their lungs. I had many people wanting to help and I felt I didn't need the help. Granted if I did, I'd ask for it. And that still didn't make some people happy......they thought that I MUST ask for help.....Thanks but no Thanks...If I need you, I can verbalize it and if you are available, then fine..if not...it's fine too....You'd not believe how some people react to this.... And hang in there....It gets better......
