LIJ Katz C-section
I'm 37 weeks and it's looking like this baby won't turn, he's been breech forever so I'm trying to wrap my mind about C-section. My doctor scheduled one for 39 weeks. Can anyone who has had a C-section at LIJ recently give me an idea of the time frame? Like how long are you in recovery, when do they bring you the baby? Does the baby stay with you? Can you do skin to skin to in the OR? My family is already asking when they can visit and I'd prefer not to have visitors until out of recovery and in the post partum room. I'd like time with the baby first but we will see how that will go over.

Re: LIJ Katz C-section
I had a c section there last july. I couldnt hold my ds while on thr operating table but my husband did. Then both my son and husband met me in the recovery room. I stayed there for about 2 hours until I could move my legs and basically lift my butt off the table with my legs. In recovery they gave me toradol through my IV for pain and I honestly had no pain what to ever until the next day when I had to get up.
In recovery you can do skin to skin. They take the baby after a little while to do vitals, wash up, etc but the baby will meet you back in your postpartum room.My family came to the recovery room but if you dont want them until you get to your room I would just tell them to wait until you call them and give them the ok.

Re: LIJ Katz C-section
Thanks for the information. I guess I just want to have a little time with the baby before everyone bombards us since I won't really get to see the baby right away. Was the recovery room private too?

Re: LIJ Katz C-section
Yea it was private. By the time my family was in recovery my son was already taken to get cleaned up. I think I had 8 people in recovery with me lol I was induced and I didnt want people waiting around so once I gave them the ok my immediate family and my dhs immediate family all came running.
I totally understand wanting a little time. If that is important to you I would wait to call people until you are comfortably in your room.

Re: LIJ Katz C-section
I just had my DD 3 mo ago and i think LIJ does it the same as NSUH Manhasset. I had the Csection they gave me the baby for a few minutes and then to my DH when they did what they did and almost immediately DD was in the recovery with me the entire time. I was also allowed my family in the RRM which 2 yrs ago was entirely different experience. I agree you can tell the staff no visitors unitl you are ready.Congrats and best of luck
