Currently I use liquid for both....but I have been meaning to try these tables for the dishwasher...but keep forgetting to look for them in the grocery store.

we use liquid in both.
We used to use the tabs in the dishwasher but our new one specifically says not to use them.

Wish I had a dishwasher!
For the laundry I use a licquid w/o bleach for more delicate items and a powder w/ bleach for whites and sheets and stuff.
The powder is more abrasive, so i don't use it on my delicates

While we're on the subject of Laundry can anyone help me with a problem i'm having. I have these two while pillowcases that are like turning color and I can't get them brighter again. Yesterday I washed them with tide bleach...and still they didn't get any whiter.
What am i doing wrong here? am i washing them under the wrong kind of water. Should I do hot instead of warm...or should I do cold...please help...I love these pillowcases...

Don't put them in the dryer. or use lower heat. A lot of times the dryer can turn things a little yellowish. I don't know if you'll get them white again, but I've had luck with my whites using tide w/ bleach powder and oxy clean, and then I only put them in the dryer on low and make sure I take them out right away.
