LIRR, yet once again.
LIRR westbound service between Jamaica and Penn as well as Woodside and Penn on the Port Washington Branch is suspended due to a signal problem in one of the East River tunnels.
3rd day in a row with problems.

Re: LIRR, yet once again.
At least it's Westbound so it's off peak trains. It's usually the rush hour trains. Unreal

Re: LIRR, yet once again.
Major delays tonight:
Limited eastbound service out of Penn to Babylon, Pt Jeff, Pt Wash & Ronkonkoma ONLY due to signal problems at Penn. Customers traveling to Hempstead, Long Beach, Far Rockaway & West Hempstead are advised to take downtown 2/3 subway service to Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn for eastbound LIRR service to those branches. NYCTransit is cross-honoring tickets at Penn.
Westbound service between Jamaica and Penn and Woodside and Penn (on the Port Washington Branch) is suspended due to a signal problem in one of the East River Tunnels. NYC Transit is cross-honoring tickets for the E train at Jamaica (Sutphin/Archer) Kew Gardens (Union Turnpike) and Forest Hills (71st Avenue) at Atlantic Terminal and 34th Street and the 7 train at Woodside (61st). Westbound customers can transfer at Jamaica for service to Atlantic Terminal and 2/3 service into Penn.
MTAPD is restricting access to Penn at the 34th Street and 7th Avenue entrance due to crowding conditions caused by delays signal problems in one of the East River tunnels. Customers are advised to delay thei raccess into Penn Station at this time.

Re: LIRR, yet once again.
This is why whenever I have to go into the city for work I make sure we have dinner plans or plans to go out for drinks after work. This way I'm not heading home until 9 ish and it's usually cleared up by then. It's CONSTANT. It's an absolute joke

I could not get into Penn, cops are blocking the entrances. I am on an Express bus to Bayside that is absolutely CREEPING in traffic. I will be lucky to get home by 7:30. I am usually in the car heading home by this time.

Re: LIRR, yet once again.
Penn was being closed when DH got there. Luckily we're on the Babylon line and it's still running the locals. This season has really been AWFUL.

It really is unbelievable. Amtrak. LIRR and NJ Transit.
What really kills me is they are constantly pushing not to drive in and take the train instead. And this is the service they offer up. I don't know how they can fix this without crippling the city. They waited too long to start repairs and everything is falling apart. Terrible.

We are too and DH still isn't home. I'm bracing myself for the string of expletives out of his mouth when he gets home ending in "We're putting the house on the market tomorrow and getting the fluck off this godforsaken island."
ETA: I want to find the people who are not maintaining the signals and lock them on a room with my DD screaming "where dada" at the top of her lungs for hours while holding their pee in and flinging mini pizzas at their faces.

Re: LIRR, yet once again.
I feel like there needs to be a class action lawsuit where all the riders on this God forsaken system get compensated for a percentage of their ticket prices for all this horseshit. Someone needs to be held accountable

Is NYS/NYC designing these debacles to push more people out of here faster?

I walked in my door at 7:30, normally it's 5:50. Sat on the express bus for over 2 hours. Traffic was horrible. No way in hell was I going to take the 7 to Flushing then the local bus.

LIRR, yet once again.
It was awful I got to Penn at 5pm and left work early and it was closed so i went to Jamaica got on the train there and got on the LIRR there which was beyond crowded some guy felt bad and literally squeezed me in so this was day 2 of standing for over hour and a half. They are incompetent and should be issuing partial refunds. In reality I just want to get home on time and dont care about the money. It's so upsetting you never know what your going to get once you get to Penn it's a crap shoot.

and they keep raising fares. When I left my job in NYC in 2010 I was paying $445 a month for the NJ Transit Trenton to Penn station pass. Not including metro cards and septa rail tix (b/c I live in PA). ..it was over $600 a month in commuting passes. and for Sh*t service. It just gets worse and the prices just go up

$600 That is crazy!
Just saw this posted on New12
LIRR and Amtrak officials are meeting today with the New York State Assembly in Manhattan for a hearing about the recent problems. During the meeting, state lawmakers are expected to grill representatives about the poor service and Amtrak's recently announced plan to upgrade their aging infrastructure.

Re: LIRR, yet once again.
Nothing will change unless they feel it in their bottom line and profits. Maybe they shoudl be forced to refund fares or let people ride for free every time there are issues like this. Then maybe they would have an incentive to fix things. Because honestly, what do they care, they still make their money. Eff the riders.

Yep you are totally right. They know riders have to commute daily and have no choice but to pay the fare increases. I think the chances of us getting any type of refund are slim to none...
