Little sweet boy lost and scared at the mall today
I was at J.Crew; DH was at Sephora (yes, DH is a total metrosexual) and he came back to meet me at Crew. He told me that he just passed a little Asian boy--crying his eyes out! He'd lost his parents! I don't know if he walked away from them or what, but he was terrified. DH got security...there was also a guy around who is an off-duty cop, and we all stayed with the little boy for a while. He was SO scared; he was about 5 and could barely speak. He was so frightened he wouldn't even tell us his name. We waited a bit, but then we had to leave and the boy was safely with the cop and the mall guard. I really hope his parents came back shortly after!!! That happened to me once at Sears when I was 8. I walked away from my mother; I can recally being terrified. Did this ever happen to you? We were just talking about it again; that poor baby won't ever forget that, I bet! I know I didn't! Man, nowadays...getting temporarily "lost" is probably much scarier....

Re: Little sweet boy lost and scared at the mall today
I hope the kids parents found him soon! How scary for that little boy
I can tell you how your heart stops in less than a second when you realize your kid isn't in your sight. I can't tell you how many times my 3 year old has turned the corner too fast and I freak.
Mom tells the story all the time of how when I was little, I was hiding in the middle of a circular clothing rack at JC Penney's. She didn't see me and went walking away looking for me.

Re: Little sweet boy lost and scared at the mall today
so sad...I remember getting "lost" in Pathmark with my sister when we were like 4 and 6 or so.....We left where we were supposed to be (the toy aisle) and then we could not find our mom...we even looked outside to see if her car was still in the parking lot....
We went up to customer service crying and they paged our mom for us. She got a real kick out of it when she came to retrieve us.

luckily i knew to find a lifeguard and what our cabana # was.
when she got back, she didnt even realize i wasnt w/ the group! my parents were so pizzed off at this woman for losing me.

I never got lost- only left behind at the tennis club
my Mom thought my dad was taking me and he thought my mom was taking me
luckily it was only 5 minutes from our house- but my Dad promised me a soda for being left and I never got it (soda was a friday night only thing in my house) I still bring it up!

Re: Little sweet boy lost and scared at the mall today
I have seen lost kids before and tried to help them--- it's so sad! You want to be nice and help, but they are so scared.
My mom told me one time we were in Saks in Garden City, which is (was) not that large of a dept store, but a dept store nontheless-- only like 2 floors. Anyway, I apparently ran into the elevator and the doors closed-- and she needed to rundown and find me. Apparently I freaked her out-- but I was just fine!

My mom was in Roosevelt Field in JCPenney and there was a Code Adam announced over the loud speaker. A mom lost her child. They eventually found him

Poor Little Man... That is the scariest feeling ever......
I had to add, I got lost in Pathmark too!!! My mom had my two younger siblings with us and I lingered with the toys.... I was crying so hard I couldnt tell the guard my name. They announced over the speaker they had me and my mom came running. I was about 5 or so, and it is so vividly in my mind.

Re: Little sweet boy lost and scared at the mall today
Good for DH for noticing and getting help.
I hope they found his parents or vice versa!
I was seperated from my Dad while switching trains at Queens Plaza from the E to the G when I was 5....THAT was terrifying to say the least! All the people and staircases and loud trains....I still get shivers thinking about it

Re: Little sweet boy lost and scared at the mall today
Not to sound mean but alot of parents don't watch their kids. I have 2 kids of my own and while it is very hard shopping with them, I do not take my eyes off of them. I feel like I am a very neurotic mom because I don't want my kids walking away or touching things and is probably the reason I am stressed out all the time and these other parents are not because they feel "nothing will happen to them".
